Advertisement For some reason I am getting the message: "HTTP Error: Gateway Timeout" when I attempt to access a webpage of mine, http://cmd130cam.viewnetcam.com/ from my BlackBerry. I don't get the message when I use my Thinkpad or my PC, just from my BlackBerry. Up until today I have never had a problem accessing the http://forums.crackberry.com/blackberry-tour-9630-f141/solution-http-error-504-gateway-timeout-365726/ website with my BlackBerry. Can someone help me with this strange occurance? Thanks! :-) Reply With Quote 02-24-2010,07:33 PM #2 MStrawder Stack Pro Join Date Jul 2008 PIN/ID Ask Posts 1,825 Have you made any changes to your device? None. And the only thing I've done with the device is, and this was only after trying to connect unsuccessfully over and over with no success, I flushed the Content Cache and cleared the History in the Brower Options. Just incase that had anything to do with it. It was the only thing I could think of. I also took the battery out and restarted. This is so bizarre. If it keeps happening contact your host. Rich C. We would http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E504.html like to enable our users to browse the Internet using the Internet Browser and not use our BES infrastructure but at the same time we have an important corporate web application that sends links via email so the http error default browser has to be the BlackBerry Browser (BTSC doc ID KB15310). But if the default browser is the BlackBerry Browser, the Browser icon does not open the Internet Browser, instead it opens the BlackBerry Browser We already set the IT Policy MDS Browser Use Separate Icon to TRUE. We need to set the default browser to BlackBerry Browser and have the Internet Browser enabled for the user. Is there a way to have this functionality? http error 504 BES 5.0.1 for Domino 8.0.2 Last edited by andrezinh0 : 04-24-2010 at 07:58 AM. If the value is "BlackBerry Browser", it simply means that when user starts the Browser application, it first loads the BlackBerry Browser. Conversely, if the value is "Internet Browser", it simply means that when user starts the Browser application, it first loads the Internet Browser. If your BlackBerry has both the service books for the browsers, it will automatically detect and use the correct transport accordingly. By default, any requests to pull the Intranet web addresses will be using the BlackBerry Browser. __________________ Native but 4th class citizen of a nation governed by idiots who import congestions & contention. URL. This server did not receive a timely response from an upstream server it accessed to deal with your HTTP request. This usually means that the upstream server is down (no response to the gateway/proxy), rather than that the upstream server and the gateway/proxy do not agree on the protocol for exchanging data. Fixing 504 errors - general This problem is entirely due to slow IP communication between back-end computers, possibly including the Web server. Only the people who set up the network at the site which hosts the Web server can fix this problem. Fixing 504 errors - CheckUpDown Use of proxies and caching is increasing on the Web. Our CheckUpDown robot will always try to 'drill through' to the real computer that actually hosts the Web site, but we do not have complete control over where our HTTP request actually ends up. If only one link in the chain of computers dealing with our HTTP request is broken, then an error such as 504 can easily occur. Please contact us (email preferred) whenever you encounter 504 errors - there is nothing you can do to sort them out. We then have to liaise with your ISP and the vendor of the Web server software so that they can review the flow of IP data traffic between various computers under their control. However this is not an easy error to sort out, because the ebb and flow of Internet traffic makes this type of error very transient. 504 errors in the HTTP cycle Any client (e.g. your Web browser or our CheckUpDown robot) goes through the following cycle when it communicates with the Web server: Obtain an IP address from the IP name of the site (the site URL without the leading 'http://'). This lookup (conversion of IP name to IP address) is provided by domain name servers (DNSs). Open an IP socket connection to that IP address. Write an HTTP data stream through that socket. Receive an HTTP data stream back from the Web server in response. This data stream contains status codes whose values are determined by the HTTP protocol. Parse this data
