Could be that the system component tries to go out to the Internet bypassing it (i.e. not reading the proxy.pac file as web browser does for ex). Or, maybe the proxy system is asking for authentication that the involved windows component is not able to answer to. share|improve this answer answered Jun 30 '15 at 7:34 Xxmusashi 111 The application uses the same settings as internet explorer, so different setting wont be that case, i believe it will be based on how wininet handles connection. –Jan Bohac Jun 30 '15 at 9:11 I remember a couple years ago getting similar issues with this component. The environment was explicit proxy performing authentication. The solution was to white list the destination URL (where the CRL is located) on the proxy. Another option could be to have URL added into PAC file with return DIRECT statement (no proxy) and opening destination IP/range on the Internet facing firewall. But I don't know your network infra so... –Xxmusashi Jun 30 '15 at 9:19 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. check https://ninite.com/help/errors/revocation.html is that your date and time are https://github.com/wbond/package_control/issues/633 set correctly. If that's set properly and you're still having trouble, the easiest way to fix it is to change an Internet Explorer setting (Ninite uses the same settings). Since http error Ninite runs as Administrator, you may need to log in as Administrator and change these settings for that account. Open Internet Explorer. In the Tools menu select Internet Options. Pick the Advanced tab and then scroll down to http error code the Security section as pictured below. Then turn off or uncheck Check for server certificate revocation, highlighted below. Click OK at the bottom of the window. Technical Details The underlying issue with this error is that a machine is being blocked from contacting the revocation servers for our web server's SSL certificate. To pass the check a machine needs to contact at least one revocation server over HTTP/port 80. The servers are: ocsp.digicert.com crl3.digicert.com crl4.digicert.com Adding those to any firewall or proxy whitelists you may have would be a good way to solve this problem on multiple machines at once. jobs about press updates security privacy terms ©2016 Secure by Design Inc

I'm behind a corporate proxy, not sure how it's configured. I've tried to put my username and passowrd and I've also changed the user_agent to match that of Chrome, but no luck. When I inspect the traffic I see that every request to certificate revocation servers is redirected to my proxy that answers with a 401 Unauthorized.
