However, on the default site I have unchecked the "require SSL" under SSL settings and restarted the iis server. But when I try to open http://localhostI get access denied 403.4. I have an active HTTP-redirect on this page to an HTTPS site. If I go to https://localhost, I get no error and theredirection works. Please let https://forums.iis.net/t/1200804.aspx?IIS+gives+me+error+403+4+on+none+SSL+pages me know if I can provide any more information that would be of any help. It sounds like you only have an https binding. 403.4 Peter Viola MCTIP SA, EST, DBA 2008 MCSA Windows Server 2012 Please 'Mark as Answer' if this post helps you. www.peterviola.com Reply stianhn 6 Posts Re: IIS gives me error 403.4 on none SSL pages Aug 01, 2013 08:29 AM|stianhn|LINK Hey peterviola, I have a http binding at port 80. So I guess you have the 'Require SSL' option enabled. That would explain why your website works properly with HTTPS and returns a 403.4 error when you request HTTP. Open IIS Manager and navigate to the level you want to manage. For information about opening IIS Manager, see Open IIS Manager (IIS 7). F

It's a classic asp site, that used to work until the path to the files was changed. The path had to be changed because the site had to be upgraded. After getting the error; putting back the original path doesn't either. Does anyone have any idea http error code what I should check to resolve the above mentioned error? ssl asp-classic https iis-6 share|improve this question edited Nov 23 '11 at 19:23 Joel Coehoorn 249k92440661 asked Jan 26 '11 at 17:13 user220583 1 Sounds like your cert isn't correctly installed. Telling the browser to use SSL (https) won't matter unless the site is actively bound to a cert, and listening for SSL requests. In IIS, have you checked your directory security tab to ensure that your cert is installed correctly? –George Johnston Jan 26 '11 at 17:19 Is it possible to get screwed up if you change the location of the files? –user220583 Jan 26 '11 at 17:20 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted Try following Configuring SSL on a Web Server or Web Site (IIS 6.0) from Microsoft. It specifically mentions the error you get: If you set your Web site to require SSL, as in step 6 above, and you have not completed setting up SSL for the site, then users browsing your site will receive this error: "HTTP Error 403.4 - Forbidden: SSL is required to view this resource." To avoid this condition, either complete all the steps in the list

I am trying to enable the existing default DeltaDRL location #2 as shown in the CA-PKI-SnapIn. The error message is: download not possible. The location is http://pc-nt-mv.hug.local/CertEnroll/hug-PC-NT-MV-CA(1)+.crl I did create a new virtual directory "CertEnroll" on my default web site that is bound to *:80 (http). I pointed it to C:\Windows\System32\CertSrv\CertEnroll where the lists are located. For troubleshooting I granted read permissions to everyone to that folder. When visiting "http://pc-nt-mv.hug.local/CertEnroll" I get error 403.44 SSL required, although I do not have SSL enabled, as you can see in the image below. To verify that the request is processed by the default website, I deacivated it and got a 404 error, just like I expected. I need to access /CertEnroll without using SSL. How can I achieve that? (The blacked out information is "remote.hug.com", which is not the real address) iis iis-7 windows-sbs-2008 share|improve this question edited Mar 10 '15 at 11:16 asked Mar 10 '15 at 8:33 Daniel 3,55511242 1 With an application called "CertEnroll" I wouldn't exclude the application itself requiring SSL/TLS regardless of whether or not SSL is configured, for security purposes. –HBruijn♦ Mar 10 '15 at 9:25 Sorry, I don't understand what you are trying to say. Could you perhaps rephrase your sentence? –Daniel Mar 10 '15 at 9:31 I set up a fresh SBS 2008 and when adding the virtual directory "CertEnroll" pointing to "C:\Windows\System32\CertSrv\CertEnroll", this was working without any additional configuration. Something redirects my default web site to SSL and I need to remove that. –Daniel Mar 10 '15 at 11:26 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted
