I have read a few posts that are similar in nature to the issue that I am having. Before I run off to the Ubuntu discussion forum, I thought that I would run this by some of the resident gurus. First, my setup.Running DW CS6 on my laptop. OS = Windows 7 ProHave MySQL, PHP, Apache2 running on Ubuntu Server edition v.12.04.3 LTS Codename preciseThe Ubuntu server is running as a Hyper-V VM in Windows Server 2012Conecting via FTP to the server and web directory that holds my PHP content functions just as it should.Connecting to the MySQL database on the other hand is a different story. My database and tables are both setup. And, I can connect to the database via a require connect.php test file that I have written. I use the same credentials in this file and the CS6 database setup. Here are two screen shots of some results. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Not this time. It is correct but the server won't let me in. I can do all mysql commands through the mysql terminal and ssh is also available. This is what I see: The red page is something http://stackoverflow.com/questions/32013547/dreamweaver-mysql-403-error I made and is not an error. mysql dreamweaver share|improve this question edited Aug 15 '15 at 8:36 asked Aug 14 '15 at 15:25 Harvey Fletcher 559 1 please don't use dreamweaver. –Shafizadeh Aug 14 '15 at 15:30 1 Why would a connection to a MySQL server throw an HTTP error? Anyways, 403 is usually to do with file permissions, not necessarily authentication. –Devon Aug 14 '15 at 15:33 2 @Sajad I wasn't even aware that Dreamweaver was still around - a real blast from the past! –Eborbob Aug 14 '15 at 16:02 Why not use WorkBench? –Praveen Kumar Aug 15 '15 at 8:47 What happens if you connect to the same page in your browser? –Toby Allen Aug 16 '15 at 8:30 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote This is a permissions error. It must be corrected. In terminal, type: sudo chmod 777 /var/www && sudo chmod 777 /var/www/* && sudo chmod 777 /var/www// And press enter. It will execute. then type: sudo chown -hR www-data /var/www And press enter. That will execute. share|improve this answer edited Aug 16 '15 at 8:31 Toby Allen 7,919747109 answered Aug 16 '15 at 8:28 Harvey Fletche

I am using a mac and dreamweaver. I bought a book on how to use php and sql with dreamweaver. the example in the book allowed me to access a database and it worked very well. when I went to use this in real life and create my own database I get the 403 error. Here http error is the fun part. I created a database on my server and I can't access it from the site I created it for, but I can access that database from the site created by the book that the example came in. bottom line Sample site created from text book can access all the databases I create Site that I created can not access any databases. anyone have any http error code suggestions? yes I added a index.html file to my root directory. I am hoping it is as simple as I missed a radio button somewhere to turn someone on in my site.
