If anyone has this same problem, please try verifying that you have enough (64MB+) server memory allocated to Apache/PHP in your server http error while uploading images in wordpress configuration settings. You can also add this to your wp-config.php file: define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '64MB'); Third solution: Connect to your website using the FTP client and then go to /wp-content/ directory. There you will see /uploads/ folder. Right click on the uploads directory and give file permission 755. let me know if among three of not working cgreenleaf @cgreenleaf 11 months, 3 weeks ago Solution 1 Worked! Thanks dudes. Is it possible that your images might be too big or the server experiencing traffic problems? morcom @morcom 8 months, 2 weeks ago wp4.4.2 Just realised I am having same error. Used to work fine and think my other sites are having same problem trying to upload a graphic .jpg 278KB file browser’s built-in file uploader http error when gives 500 error multi-file uploader gives HTTP error. Just realised that fails when graphic is greater than 135KB even though uploader shows max size for upload to be 8MB Takis Bouyouris @nevma 8 months, 2 weeks ago This is definitely not natural. The 500 error in the built-in file uploader shows some kind of unexpected server error. Exceeding the max upload size could be it. I would suggest you mention this to your host. If you have access to your error logs then maybe you could check them out and see if anything usefull is logged there. morcom @morcom 8 months, 2 weeks ago Sorry for the delay been a bit busy lately. As you suggested I have created the failure again and here is the error log which looks promising for detail [Fri Feb 05 10:31:35.589912 2016] [fcgid:warn] [pid 3974] [client xx.yyy.zz.aaa:53072] mod_fcgid: HTTP request length 131737 (so far) exceeds MaxRequestLen (131072), referer: http://mysite.com/wp-admin/media-new.php morcom @morcom 8 months, 2 weeks ago Hi Nevma - thanks for your which pointed me in the right direction. When Uploading Images to WordPress 8 Ways to Fix the HTTP Error When Uploading Images to WordPress TipsThemeSkills 12 Nov 2014 I believe many people encountered this HTTP error when uploading images to WordPress. The last time this happened to us was several days ago, after the hosting transfer, so I thought to share with you several solutions that may help you solve this problem. This error appears after the image is struggling to upload for a while. Sometimes, the image is uploaded even if the error appears. Most of the time it's the image's size (height and width) that causes this, so trying to upload big images could trigger the issue.8 solutions for the HTTP errorSometimes, the error can appear just once, for a particular image, but if it persists, try the following solutions or talk to your host. Here's how the HTTP error looks like when you try to upload an image:In order to make a screenshot of the error, I've tried to upload a big sized (height and width) image, and as you can see, it did trigger the error. Now let's get to our solutions:1. Decrease the image's size. Don't add a 2000 x 1500 image, for example. If your post content area is 700px wide, don't add an image larger than that.2. Change the image's extension from .png to .jpg, or vice versa, then upload it again.3. If the problem appears after installing a plugin, deactivate it and try it again. Some plugins can trigger the error.4. Increase your PHP memory. Add this code define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '64M') into your wp-config.php file. This setting may not work if your host does not allow you to increase the PHP memory limit, so I suggest talking to your support directly and ask them to change the limit for you. You'll skip the hassle.Read this guide if you need to know how to access and edit your WordPress files.5. Add one of these codes in .htaccess:
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off
or# Exclude the
