Now I have a requirement which forces me to deploy to an IIS7 inmiddle of development (to check some features). I'm getting the above mentioned error message whenever I try to type the URL of the web site. (Note: development machine: Vista Home Premium, IIS7) What I have done until now: Edited the HOSTS file (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts). Put two the web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory. mvc 5 domains in it (127.0.0.1 domain1.com & 127.0.0.1 domain2.com). Created a folder c:\websites\dirOfApplication and deployed from within Visual Studio 8 to this folder. In IIS7 created a new site with host name domain1.com and application folder the above. Typing the address domain1.com in Web browser results in the above error (HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden - The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory.) I think I'm missing something but don't know what! Tryed to deploy the files System.Web.Mvc, System.Web.Abstraction & System.Web.Routing wit the same outcome. Whenever I try to hit F5 and run the application, it works fine! asp.net-mvc iis hosting share|improve this question edited Mar 2 '14 at 8:17 psubsee2003 5,71963557 asked Nov 16 '09 at 10:53 savvas sopiadis 7252710 possible duplicate of ASP.NET MVC on IIS 7.5 –Sohnee Oct 25 '12 at 14:45 add a comment| 19 Answers 19 active oldest votes up vote 192 down vote Maybe it's useful to someone: After converting my app to MVC 4 with .NET framework 4.5 and installing the framework on my server with IIS 7.0 I encountered the same 'forbidden' error mentioned in the question. Its not. Development Environment: VS 2012 and MVC 4. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17297490/http-error-403-14-forbidden-mvc-4-with-iis-express I am using the built in IIS Express to run the app. This error was not occurring until yesterday. It suddenly began to occur and I am stuck. Its strange that It occurs only in ONE scenario. When I try to access http://localhost:49962/managescholars/, it shows me the error HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory. But using http://localhost:49962/managescholars/Index works fine. Other action methods of same controller also work fine. such as http://localhost:49962/managescholars/create. All other controllers work fine as well. I recently decided to have VS run/debug my apps on IIS rather than the dev server that comes with it. However, every time I try to run an MVC app, http error 403.14 I get the following error: HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory. Notes: I installed IIS 7.5 after installing VS 2010 RC. I used the built-in "Create Virtual Directory" button under the "Web" tab in the MVC project's "Properties" in Visual Studio 2010. I made sure that the application is using the ASP.NET 4 App Pool.
