code 08611 displayed . I managed to get laptop to boot into windows ME Desk top by repetidly tapping F1 Key (it took some time and not always succesful) In desk top I could not use tackball nor external mouse only the keyboard function was available to me. What I have tried: disconnected keyboard, replaced bios battery, lifted various plugs and compoments, disconneced harddive ect ran scan disk, defraged hard drive. I finally managed to format hard drive with a bootdisk for win 98se.I do not have recovery or win ME Disks. Where am I now: I power up laptop same error on page 08611, no operating system, I have tied to boot up from cd with both win 98se and win xp. message says not system disk please remove disk. One other thing is I can get into bios sometimes by hitting F12. The only options here is boot from hd1, ffd, cd, when I hit settings nothing happens just hangs. any info would greatfull. Unfortunately, there is no comment about the detail of the removal technique. > I have this desire to simply snip the wires on the > side of each memory unit. I don't think it's a very good idea. I once did it and found that the circuit patter cannot hold when I snipped a wire. So there is a high probability that you damage the circuit patten if you just snip them. I suggest you first obtain a junk circuit board having a similar chip on it and practice using it. I hope your success!
