I know that it refers to the keyboard and I have a new one on the way but there is a 24 a few spaces in front of the 301, what is that? I was getting 161, 163, 192, and the 301. I replaced the cmos battery and now all I get is the 301. Do you think replacing the keyboard will fix it? Thanks! _________________IBM Thinkpad 600E 2645-4BU 40 GB HD 544 MB RAM Win XP Pro. dvd-rom I LOVE MY THINKPAD!!! Could that cause the error? _________________IBM Thinkpad 600E 2645-4BU40 GB HD544 MB RAMWin XP Pro.dvd-romI LOVE MY THINKPAD!!! However, the rubber dome may be in contact with the contacts on the board. The 301 error code will only display the first key that is "stuck" so if you have multiple stuck keys, then you have to fix them one-by-one. It's definite

Error 301 on IBM Thinkpad 600E Started by akonichi , Jul 20 2008 09:38 PM Please log in to reply #1 akonichi Posted 20 http://www.thinkpads.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=44602 July 2008 - 09:38 PM akonichi New Member Member 3 posts Hi! Has anyone encountered this error on the IBM Thinkpad 600E? I read from the net that this is a keyboard error. I am currently using an external keyboard because some of the keys of the internal keyboard are no longer working. Unfortunately, I think one of the keys got stuck and now the laptop always goes to the test screen every time I open it. While I can bypass the error http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/205757-error-301-on-ibm-thinkpad-600e/ and proceed to load Win XP, everytime I click on a program (ex. MS Word), it opens the said programs over and over again until the memory is all used up. I am wondering if there is a way to disable the internal keyboard and just use the external keyboard which I am currently using. I saw some cmos modification to disable the trackpoint (the red pencil eraser-like rubber on the keyboard) but couldn't find one for the internal keyboard. Yes No Sorry, something has gone wrong. Trending Now Answers Relevance Rating Newest Oldest Best Answer: It's definitely a problem with your keyboard if your keyboard has a key that is stuck "down", then the power-on self-test (POST) will indicate the "301" error code, along with a code which tells you exactly which key is causing the problem. For example, in the picture to ibm thinkpad 301 the left there is a "15" in front of the 301 error code. This means that one of the keys is stuck down, now if none of the keys is stuck down then a new keyboard should eliminate the 301 boot errors. Source(s): computer Technician.
