I have done a lot of reading here and this looks like a great community. I tried to search on this problem before posting, but couldn't find an exact match to my problem. I bought a TP 600 2645 5NU on Ebay. The first few times I turned it on, it booted https://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/ibm-thinkpad-error-message-00192-13952/ fine. But now it just gives me an ERROR 00192. When I run the test, it shows a system board error like this: DEV 001 ERR 96 FRU 3810 If anybody can help, I would be very appreciative. Also, maybe one of you 600 experts can help me on tis one. But if it is the system board, can I put one in from a 600E? I looked up the FRU part number from IBM and got 10L1711 for my TP600. When I plugged that into E-bay, I found a http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=37413 system board from a 600E: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... Track=true Although my specific computer is not listed, the FRU compatibility seems to match? Can I indeed upgrade? If I could put a system board from a 600e in my 600, then maybe i can increse the processor speed too? Thanks for any info you can provide. The error codes can be decoded from the Hardware Maintenance Manual, available from here: 600/600E HMM Starting from page 43, there's a table of error codes. FRU 3810 refers to the fan (38 ) or the system board (10). What may be happening is that the fan is not spinning up when the system is first powered on, thus the error. As far as replacing the 600 motherboard with one from a 600E, I have no personal experience in doing that. If you search around the archives, I'm sure somebody has confirmed if rhis does or does not work. I have a couple of 600Es but have never owned a 600. _________________Ray KawakamiX22 X24 X31 X41 X41T X60 X60s X61 X61s X200 X200s X300 X301 Z60m Z61t Z61p 560 560Z 600 600E 600X T21 T22 T23 T41 T60p T410 T420 T520 W500 W520 R50 A21p A22p A31 A31pNOTE: All links to PC-Doctor software hosted by me are dead. Guest http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44489 the ibm thinkpad 600e that i am working with, on boot i get the three errors 00161, 00192, 00163. i replaced the cmos battery and it made no difference. i have tried getting into the bios by holding F1 before and throughout powerup to no avail. when it finally loads up to ibm thinkpad something, it is the classic ERROR screen with the three errors listed and the arrow pointing to the manual. i can click on ok or cancel and they both do the same thing, basically the ok and cancel button disappear and then i can do nothing but restart the computer with the power switch which then just starts the process over. any help would be greatly ibm thinkpad error appreciated , Dec 13, 2004 #1 Advertisements Bruce Markowitz Guest First of all it is likely a 600, NOT an e, the e does not generally give the 192 (fan) error Are you sure, CERTAIN, ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE you put in a new, good CMOS battery. Try another, this is the classic CMOS battery errors. It's a 192 Error on my ThinkPad 600 old notebook. This is supposed to be a system fan error, but i'm not sure about it. Please reply if you know more about this, if you had a similar problem. Thank you. You should take this to an authorized repair shop and have them to fix it. (just my advice though) Here is IBM error code page. IBM errors Dodge View Public Profile Visit Dodge's homepage! Thank you. Mihai Error 192 could be due to three main things: 1. CMOS battery flat. 2. Cooling fan stuck/faulty. 3. Main board fault. Do you also get any other errors, eg., 161 or 163? If so, then the problem is very likely a dead CMOS battery (I just replaced the one on my old thinkpad 600 by coincidence :-). If not, see if the cooling fan is clogged with junk, and try cleaning it. Failing these two, it's time to take it to a servicing centre - they might j
