Type: 2645350 S/N:55132RWConfiguration:CPU Pentium II 233 MHzRAM 288 MB (Internal 32 MB + 128 MB + 128 MB in expansion slots)HDD bay: 5 GB IBM HDDUltraslimbay: FDDWhen I switched on the Thinkpad first time I got error codes 161, 192 and 163. According to manual I should check the CMOS backup battery and I found out that CMOS backup battery was bad, when I measured the voltage it showed 0 V. SoI changed the CMOS backup battery, now the battery shows 3 V.Now when I switch on the Thinkpad with the new CMOS battery, I get error codes 163 and 173.The window with error codes 163 and 173 pops up, I press OK, window with time and date settings pops up. I set the time and date, I have to change the time and date from default values (2000-01-01; 00:00:00)to actual values and I confirm it by pressing OK button.I hear double beep and

Ibm Error Codes
T440BX RC440BX VC820 For their PS/2 systems, IBM used a system of diagnostic ibm bios beep codes codes to diagnose trouble spots in a given computer. The problem was, these diagnostic codes were never really documented ibm thinkpad 380ed all that well. The codes that I am presenting here are from documents I have read through, found on the web, found in old books, documents and technical papers. As a computer technician, https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Legacy-Laptops-A-I-V/Thinkpad-600-Error-codes-163-and-173-after-CMOS-battery/td-p/826761 I rely on documentation to guide me through these types of messages. Therefore, I hope to provide this to all those other technicians out there who get the opportunity to work on one of these. And, yes, people still use them and some refuse to give them up. The method for reading these codes is pretty straight forward. The first part of the error code indicates http://www.bioscentral.com/misc/ibmdiag.htm the device that is causing the trouble. The second part gives the meaning of the error. You can think of the first part as the test code and the second part as the fault code. A fault code of 00 indicates that no problem was found. Thus 200 means the system memory was tested. The 00 means that no fault was found. 201 would mean a memory error. 202 would mean memory address error; lines 00-15. This page is rather extensive and will be updated on a regular basis. Like all the other codes out there. If you know of any error codes that I am displaying incorrectly or that aren't here. Let me know and I'll get it corrected as soon as I can. Thanks to Mike Rose for erors 129 and 229!
