What is wrong and how do I fix this problem? Solution: This is a known error with the Microsoft Installer that is documented on their website. There are two known causes: An incorrect or corrupted version of the Riched20.dll file is on your computer, or the Riched20.dll file is missing from your computer. Your computer is infected with the Nimda virus (W32.Nimda.A@mm). For the first case, you need to copy a working version of the Riched20.dll file from another machine or re-install the MSI installer distributables. If you are using Windows 95, 98 or ME, you must download and run Instmsi.exe. If you are using Windows NT 4.0, 2000 or XP, you must download and run InstMsiW.exe. These are available from Microsoft, please refer to the Related Links section below. These executables will restore any corrupted files on your system. If the installation error is occuring because your computer is infected with the Nimda virus, you must clean out any traces of the virus and re-install the distributables.
