Hey all, I'm new to the forums and new to Blackberry. I had immense trouble migrating all my stuff from my old Treo 680 to my new Blackberry Bold, especially with syncing my contacts and calendar. Kept getting that annoying 0x80040fb3 error. Well, after literally spending hours surfing the web, I finally found a solution. Just thought I'd share it with you all, because I know a lot of people have had trouble with this. Situation: When syncing your Outlook with your Blackberry, the sync process stops halfway through saying "Error Encountered 0x80040FB3, Check Documentation". The Actual Problem: Blackberry doesn't like the attachments in your contacts list or calendar entries (or both). What attachments? Photos (profile pictures) in your contact list, and attachments in your calendar events. Solution: When you search error code 0x80040FB3 online, everyone will refer you to this not-so-helpful Blackberry support article [Link 1]. This will tell you to modify a few system files in your Blackberry folder to enable error logging, obtain the logs, stick them in an email, and then "send the email message to your technical support representative so that the synchronization log files can be analyzed." Link 1: www[dot]blackberry[dot]com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB14 818&sliceId=SAL_Public&dialogID=189220282&stateId= 1%200%20189216933 Riiiight. Not helpful. Here's what I did instead: Photo Removal: Thankfully I only had a few contacts with photos so I found them on Outlook and deleted them straight. If you have lots of contacts with photos or can't remember which contacts have photos, well things get a little trickier. Two solutions I found online include: 1) exporting and reimporting your contacts list [Link 2]; 2) doing that whole logging thing I mentioned above, finding the finding the "corrupt" entries, deleting them, and recreatin
Blackberry Desktop Manager Sync Error 0x80040fb3 and 0x8004fceb [Solved!] If you are pulling your hair out trying to get your Outlook calendar to sync to your Blackberry calendar then perhaps this will help you sort it out. Here's the problem that I was having with my Blackberry Bold 9700 (OS6) sync using Blackberry Desktop Manager (BDM) version 6.1.0.35: An error popped up "Conflict Resolution - Calendar": then: No matter which option I selected, it resulted in this 0x80040fb3 error message (and also0x8004fceb): At a later date I also got an error: "Blackberry Intellisync error 0x8004fceb http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-blackberry-discussion/163174-how-i-finally-sorted-out-0x80040fb3-error.html - Flexible Web Services" The following forum helped with lots of options to try - but none helped. I decided to play with the mappings and I noticed that the conflicts always failed when the "Attendees" field was listed… So I tried UNmapping that field: Organiser->Configure settings->Advanced->Map Fields-> then UNmap the ‘Attendees' field as shown in the screen shots below: (Note: The "Reset" button also works) Retry http://handytechtips.blogspot.com/2011/06/blackberry-desktop-manager-sync-error.html the sync process and it worked! :) :) If thisdoesn'twork for you then perhaps this info from the Blackberry Forums will: http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-software/137009-help-dm-sync-error-0x80040fb3.html For more info - when the sync was failing the following appeared in the log file (not that it helped me much!): The log file: "c:\Users\{YourName}\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Intellisync\{YourBB_PIN}\RIM.Log" contained the following info and error: " Field mapping used for translation: Microsoft Outlook Device Subject ------------------------- Description Title Start Date ---------------------- Start Date Start Time ---------------------- Start Time End Date ------------------------ End Date End Time ------------------------ End Time Alarm Date ---------------------- Alarm Date Alarm Time ---------------------- Alarm Time Reminder Set Flag --------------- Alarm Flag Body ---------------------------- Notes Show Time As -------------------- Free Busy Location ------------------------ Location Private ------------------------- Private Meeting Attendees --------------- Attendees Unable to write application data record. This worked, I tried so many other solutions. I guess the truth is that some solutions work in some instances and not others. Your solution worked for me. Thanks. Andy Sutton

Bringing up Desktop Manager again, it would not detect the Blackberry unless you unplug and reconnect the Blackberry to the USB cable or if you reboot the server it is connected to (if working on this remotely). The following steps resolved the issue:1. Disconnect the Blackberry from the usb cable2. Start Desktop Manager and choose Synchronize and then uncheck the box that says to Automatically Synchronize when connected3. Connect the Blackberry to the usb cable4. Immediately do a Backup/Restore and create a Backup5. When the Backup completes, choose Advanced6. You will see the data file sizes and number of items stored on the handheld and in the database backup you just made7. Select the sync item you are having trouble with on the Blackberry column and clear it. In my case, it was the Calendar. I selected the Calendar database item ON THE HANDHELD and chose CLEAR8. Now close the Backup/Restore and open Synchronize and choose Synchronize Now9. This should now be a smooth Sync10. Remember to re-check the box that says to Automatically Sync when connected Comments (View All Comments / Add Comment) Blackberry Sync Error - try this Try this solution http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-blackberry-discussion/163174-how-i-fin
