displaying a PDF in IE with Acrobat or Reader can require turning error opening pdf in internet explorer off EPM. Some versions of IE had EPM enabled by default. Current versions have EPM disabled by default. Acrobat products error opening pdf files in internet explorer only partially supported EPM with 10.1.8 and 11.0.04. With those versions, incompatible add-ons are automatically disabled when EPM is on. If you encounter a site that needs an add-on such as https://www.itsupportguides.com/windows-7/adobe-pdfs-wont-open-in-internet-explorer/ an Acrobat plug-in, disable EPM for the specific website. Then, you can use the site while having EPM enabled for the rest of the Internet. Only disable EPM for websites you trust. To disable EPM for a single site, click the Disable button when the EPM message bar appears. To disable EPM entirely, seehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/2864914 Full support is provided with 10.1.9 and 11.0.06. When you open a PDF when Reader's Protected Mode is off and EPM is on in IE 10 or 11, Protected Mode isenabled automatically. Protected Mode ison even if the user settings and the preferences user interface indicatethat Protected Mode is off. The current experience Acrobat products behave similarly on Windows 8/8.1 and 7 when EPM is enabled in IE 10 and 11. You can always download a PDF locally and view it in the desktop application. However, when a PDF is opened in a browser, a dialog or message bar appears that provides options for action (the message varies by context): “This web page wants to run (Adobe PDF Reader | PDF Browser Control | AcroPDF.dll). This happens about 50% of the time. If I right click the link and 'save as' I can open the pdf file outside of IE 8.0 with Acrobat 9.0 when this happens. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thank you in advance. If restarted, the document would download properly and display properly as well. The 9.1.1 couldn't have solved the issue because all it has new is an updated Comments plug-in, compared to 9.1.2 which has more updated files. It happens with the Firefox browser as well. This problem also exists in the 32 bit version of Windows 7 RC. Saturday, May 30, 2009 3:00 PM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote I also have the problem with Firefox. I tried 'repairing' Acrobat 9.0 with Programs and Features. When that didn't work, I tried changing the settings in Acrobat under Edit/Preferences/Internet but nothing I tried worked. Any suggestions anyone? I'd be willing to try an older version of Acrobat.
