But from terminal when I try so launch using ./ies4linux I always obtain this error: The program 'ies4linux-gtk.py' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'RenderBadPicture (invalid Picture parameter)'. (Details: serial 6659 error_code 143 request_code 139 minor_code 10) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) Can someone help me? Thanks!! Used ./ies4linux --no-gui IEs4Linux 2 is developed to be used with recent Wine versions (0.9.x). It seems that you are using an old version. It's recommended that you update your wine to the latest version (Go to: winehq.com). IEs4Linux will: - Install Internet Explorers: 6.0 - Using IE locale: EN-US - Install Adobe Flash 9.0 - Install everything at: /home/giovanni/.ies4linux [ OK ] Downloading everything we need Downloading from microsoft.com: DCOM98
It provides IE 6, 5.5 and 5.01 as well as Adobe Flash and the option to install the Microsoft's TrueType Corefonts; while the full IE 7 package can't be supported through wine, the beta does provides support for the IE 7 rendering engine using the IE 6 user interface. There are some issues with the beta as well as a hack (available at the bottom of the ies4linux beta page) provided for proxy configuration for IE 7, but be sure to read about the known issues for all versions. Average user shouldn't install IE 7, http://askubuntu.com/questions/723052/ies4linux-installation-is-failing it's mainly for the benefit of web developers. So why does anyone want to install Internet Explorer in Linux? Well there are a few reasons: I can and it's pretty cool Accessing IE only sites - where User Agent Switcher doesn't do the trick Web Developers who need to test their sites with IE So let's get on with the install; we need to install https://altoptions.wordpress.com/2008/01/13/ies4linux-installing-internet-explorer-on-linux/ the two dependencies wine of course and cabextract. su urpmi wine cabextract exit Then we need to setup wine which will create the .wine directory and all the associated files (registry etc.): wine config Once the basic configuration is done the wine configuration GUI is presented and you can configure wine further, the only thing that is required to set is the Audio Driver under the Audio Tab. [The default driver for most will be ALSA] We're now ready to install ies4linux. Download the package: wget http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/downloads/ies4linux-latest.tar.gz Extract the package: tar zxvf ies4linux-latest.tar.gz Change to the working directory: cd ies4lin* The newer versions of ies4linux use a qt or gtk GUI, but we'll keep going in konsole by issuing the --no-gui flag. To view the full list of options use ./ies4linux --full-help . Using the command below ies4linux will install IE 6, 5.5, 5.01, Adobe Flash and the MS TTF Corefonts. The MS corefonts will come in handy for future program installs under wine as it is a necessity for some, so I suggest that they are installed. ./ies4linux --no-gui --install-corefonts --install-ie55 --install-ie5 Once completed you can run Internet Explorer by typing: ie6
below would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to use Linux as much as possible and there are only a few applications for which I have no http://www.gagme.com/greg/linux/activex-linux.php choice but to use Windows for. There is one stubborn Real Estate related http://www.debianadmin.com/running-internet-explorer-debian-and-ubuntu-linux.html website I use called MLXchange that for some mysterious reason was written to require ActiveX controls. I recently ran across the IEs4Linux project which allows you to install various versions of Internet Explorer very easily on most popular Linux distributions. However MLXchange still didn't work. After some experiementation and Googling I finally figured out internet explorer the secrets. I assume this should also allow most other websites that require ActiveX to also work. Please let me know in the comments section at the bottom if this does or does not work with other sites. Installing Internet Explorer If you're using Fedora 7 then I recommend you follow my F7 Tips page to get the system set up and get IEs4Linux installed. Briefly, IEs4Linux an error occured requires wine and cabextract which on a yum based system is very easy to install: # yum -y install wine cabextract The rest of these instructions are straight from my F7 Tips paget download the latest script, extract and run it. The example below is based on version 2.0.5, just adjust the version number as necessary. Please note that you will want to install and run this as your own user, NOT as root. I used the defaults except that I installed all the versions of IE. I do some web development and I always find myself needing to resolve some goofy incompatibilites with older versions of IE. $ gtar xzvf ies4linux-2.0.5.tar.gz $ cd ies4linux-2.0.5 $ ./ies4linux Welcome, greg! I'm IEs4Linux. I can install IE 6, 5.5 and 5.0 for you easily and quickly. You are just four 'enter's away from your IEs. I'll ask you some questions now. Just answer y or n (default answer is the bold one) IE 6 will be installed automatically. Do you want to install IE 5.5 SP2 too? [ y / n ] y . . . IEs 4 Linux installations finished! To run your IEs, type: ie6 ie55 ie5 Adjust IE
