Now I am attempting to use it on a Pentium III 866MHZ. The machine is currently running Debian 2.4.18-bf2.4 using the harddrive with no problems. If I enter any kernel/boot options, I get an error: "Uncompressing Linux... invalid compressed format (err=1) -- System halted" If I just press enter with no options, the computer hangs on a blank screen. Both of these errors occur after "Loading vmlinuz1..." and "Loading initrd1...." are complete and the screen gets cleared. The systemrescuecd does still work on other machines.... Can anyone offer any help? What other hardware information do you require? 16 Jun 2004, 21:08 admin Site Admin Joined: 17 Jul 2003, 09:44Posts: 2707 Maybe the CD is damaged. Try to burn on a new CD-R. Sometimes, we have problems with CD-RW when burned too many times. 17 Jun 2004, 06:40 Guest I have burned a new CD with version 0.2.14 and I still get a very similar error: "Loading vmlinuz1...................... Loading initrd1.................... Ready. Uncompressing Linux... invalid compressed format (err=2) -- System halted" Both of the CDs still work on other computers, so I don't think they are damaged. Could the problem be caused by read errors occuring in the CDROM drive? 17 Jun 2004, 15:31 Finn I have found the problem. The CDROM drive was faulty and once I replaced it with a working one, the rescue cd booted fine.
