I'm here to tell you https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1817-RTSK-8917 a fix. Exit Steam and locate your configuration *config* folder It's located at C:\Program Files\Steam It says config, Now Delete that folder, make sure you have steam exited, Then start steam up again and it'll possibly ask you to login on this computer, do so and allow it. It's not the game that's wrong it's your folders being out of date. If this does not work go to C:\Program http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2761742 Files\Steam\userdata\SOMENUMBERHERE\config Open the localconfig.vdf in a notepad file, Just drag it to notepad and then Delete the Steam2Ticket and the long hexidecimal number. Restart steam and try to connect to it. The Third Fix: Delete these files Steam.dll SteamUI.dll or rename the Clientregistery.BLOB file to anything Restart steam and see what happens *this is valve's official fix* If any of those work, you are most welcome - conorf1 conorf1 View Public Profile Search User Find More Posts by conorf1 Find Threads by conorf1 06-22-2012, 04:09 PM #2 DoctorRagnarok Join Date: Jun 2012 Reputation: 2 Posts: 6 For me it was just a matter of removing ClientRegistry.blob and localconfig.vdf, then it ran fine. The problem here being that a fair number of users retain the error regardless of the attempted fix, so there is something else going here that needs fixing on Steam's end. the upper left corner and click "Change User" A confirmation window will come up asking if you want to log out click "LOGOUT" You will now see the Steam login window. Close it. Make sure Steam is not still running! If you don't log out and quit Steam properly the following steps will not work! (Step 2) Delete Steam .blob Files and Config folders Open your Steam install location If you dont know where your Steam is installed right click on your Steam shortcut and click "Properties" Go to the "Shortcut" tab Click "Find Target" In your Steam install location delete the "config" folder, "ClientRegistry.blob" file, and "AppUpdateStats.blob" file This fixes the issue for most people. Relaunch Steam and test. If you still get the error, do Step 1 and 2 again but proceed to Step 3 before relaunching steam (Step 3) Clear Old Prefetch Data Download, install and run Ccleaner. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner Under "Cleaner" click the "Windows" tab and check "Old Prefetch data". Click "Run Cleaner" Relaunch Steam and test. If you still get the error, do Step 1 and 2 again but do Step 4 before relaunching steam (Step 4) Clear Steam Registry Press WindowsKey+R to open run menu, type "regedit", press ENTER or OK Navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software" Navigate to "valve" directory then right click and DELETE it You may also need to delete the "userdata" folder at your Steam install location but note this is where many game saves are stored and you may loose them if you delete it!
