The iPad was discharged to much, and not shut down. What happenes is that the iPad starts automatically too early can't hold the needed current to stay awake and shuts down again. There are different solutions on the Internet, but mainly get the battery charged, or replaced. I am going to charge the battery from inside the case ( pain!)
