up and rise to the top Ubuntu 14.04 LTS fails to start with a kernel panic up vote 8 down vote favorite 6 These errors occur while starting Ubuntu. I am dual booting Windows 8.1 with Ubuntu. kernel panic - not syncing : fatal exception in interrupt. shutting down cpus with NMI drm_kms_helper : panic occurred, switching back to text console. The first time I tried to boot it just crashed with a blank screen. I waited 45 minutes, then rebooted. Now I get something called "kernel panic". It happens every time I boot up, though I can still get into Win8 without issue. What is the solution to this problem?
