Any that require elevation to other systems are sent to a 'mirror' table on our live microsoft sql server MySQL serverI could select using a 4 part name fine SELECT TOP 10 *FROM [MySQL]...MyTblI could push fine into the same table fineINSERT INTO [MySQL]...MyTbl(MyCol1, MyCol2, MyCol3)SELECT Col1, Col2, Col3FROM SSMSTbluntil one day when it all stopped working and all I got was Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1The OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "MySQL" reported an error. The provider reported an unexpected catastrophic failure.Msg 7343, Level 16, State 2, Line 1The OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "MySQL" could not INSERT INTO table "[MySQL]...[MyTbl]". Unknown provider error. This would also hang any further connections to the server........meaning that I'd need to restart the SQLServer service to kill the processes (KILL 123 would change the status to KILLED/ROLLBACK but not be able to cease it)I've been trawling sites for the last couple of weeks trying to get a solution.....tried many things, both the bloomin' obvious to the 'really dont know what I'm doing here but just following instructions hoping that I dont properly break something'....but to no availEventually by the process of elimination, I found that it came down to the casting on 2 fields in my MySQL table and their associationSSMS = nvarchar(max)MySQL = TextI found I could push the other columns in if I ignored push
DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server supplied inconsistent metadata for a column" when accessing Salesforce.com data from SQL Server? Article: 01076 Last Reviewed: 24th July 2014 Revision: 1 The full text of the error reported to us was: The OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "SF" supplied inconsistent metadata for a column. The column "CustomerPriority__c" (compile-time ordinal 48) of object ""SF"."DBO"."Account"" was reported to have a "DBCOLUMNFLAGS_ISNULLABLE" of 0 at compile time and 32 at run time. (A similar issue was reported to Microsoft and is described in this Microsoft Article.)This issue can occur when you have custom columns in Salesforce. Let's say you already have some data in the "Account" table. You then add a custom column that has the data type Text and make the column "Required". Salesforce marks the column in its metadata as not nullable. However as you already have data in the "Account" table, Salesforce can not populate the column for you, so the data stored internally ends up being NULL.The ODBC API SQLColumns returns whether a column can accept NULL values with NULLABLE (ODBC 1.0) / IS_NULLABLE (ODBC 3.0). NULLABLE returns one of three states:SQL_NO_NULLS if the column could not include NULL values.SQL_NULLABLE if the column accepts NULL values.SQL_NULLABLE_UNKNOWN if it is not known whether the column accepts NULL values.IS_NULLABLE also has 3 states:"NO" if the column does not include NULLs."YES" if the column could include NULLs.A zero-length string if nullability is unknown. So Salesforce says the column is NOT NULL but the data contains NULL values. In this situation, Easysoft's Salesforce ODBC driver returns SQL_NULLABLE_UNKNOWN. This leads to the DBCOLUMNFLAGS_ISNULLABLE issue in SQL Server. To work around this issue in SQL Server you need to use the OPENQUERY function. OPENQUERY does not care if the column is NULL or NOT NULL. Here's an example: select * from OPENQUERY( MyLinkName, 'select * from Account') Applies To Products Easysoft ODBC-Salesforce Driver Applications Microsoft SQL Server Knowledge Base Feedback * Did this content help you?
