Lotus Domino Error 2360
Problem The Lotus Domino service fails to start automatically when Windows starts, but can be started manually. The following error is logged in the Windows Event Viewer (service name may differ): "The Lotus Domino Server (ELotusDominodata) service terminated with service-specific error %%330" Cause The Domino data folder is located on a SAN volume which is unavailable when the Domino service attempts to start. This is due to inherent latency in the MSiSCSI service which maps to SAN volumes. Further detail can be found in the vendor's documentation at this url: http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/e/9/ae91dea1-66d9-417c-ade4-92d824b871af/uguide.doc Running automatic start services on iSCSI disks ...Disks exposed by the Microsoft iSCSI initiator kernel mode driver are available for applications and services much later in the boot process and in some cases might not be available until after the service control manager begins to start automatic start services. The Microsoft iSCSI initiator service includes functionality to synchronize automatic start services and the appearance of iSCSI disk. The iSCSI service can be configured with a list of disk volumes that are required to be present before the start of automatic start services.... Searching the internet for "MSiSCSI boot delay", will reveal that this problem manifests itself even with the vendor's own products, such as MS SQL. Environment Windows Diagnosing the problem Is your Domino data folder located on an MSiSCSI-mapped device? Resolving the problem The Domino service must be configured for dependancy on the MSiSCSI initiator service. This is performed from the Windows command line as follows (service name will differ): C:\Windows\system32>sc config "Lotus Domino Server (ELotusDominodata)" depend= MSiSCSI Then use the iSCSI Command Line Interface to issue the commands "iscsicli BindPersistentDevices" and "iscsicli BindPersistentVolumes". another process)' 701fp1; Server is already running (in another process); ERR_SERVER_RUNNING; server restart fails Technote (FAQ) Question Attempts to restart a Lotus Domino 7.0 or 7.0.1 server fail with the following error: "Server is already running (in another process)." Answer This issue can occur when a message queue opened during Domino server initialization is not closed during the server shutdown. For example, a third-party application initializes the Notes runtime, but does not register as a server add-in task and does not listen http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21498064 for shutdown requests (for example, Veritas has a Notes process called belnapi.exe.) When the Domino server is shutdown, the third-party application continues running, so the message queue that was started by the Domino server does not close. When the server is restarted, the server initialization code that tries to create the message queue fails (because it already exists,) causing the server http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21239894 initialization to fail and return the error. This issue was reported to Quality Engineering and has been fixed in Domino 7.0.1 Fix Pack 1 (FP1) and 7.0.2. Excerpt from the Lotus Domino Release 7.0.1 Fix Pack 1 fix list (available at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus): Server SPR# CAOA6M48EM - Fixed a problem shutting down Domino while a Veritas Backup was running, and then trying to start Domino. The Domino server will not start because it thinks it is already running. This regression was introduced in 7.0. Refer to the Upgrade Central site for details on upgrading Notes/Domino. To work around the issue, manually disable the third-party application between shutdown and restart of Domino. Other errors that occurred that were associated to this problem include: Windows could not start the Lotus Domino Server (ProgramFilesLotusDominodata) on Local Computer.
