Posted by bowo on 19 Aug 2008 1:25 So do I, in my office, Poweredge 2950 , running Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP1 , BOD and rebooted at least cpu machine check error detected 3 times a day with the same error message "E1422 CPU machine Chk ". While the load is average 25% , because it only serve as File Server + exchange server+ DNS + Wins + DHCP + Domain Controller + Application Server. The funny thing is our previous machine with the exactly same settings, purposes and load and is only a "home made" server using old Pentium 4 and common desktop mainboard, it never hung, at least for a week.... I have the same issue with a PE2950 - 2 CPU Dualcore I've just open a Support Case, and they asked me to do some HW tests, basically boot the machine with just one CPU, and then the other one. In order to know which CPU is working wrong. I'll do it this afternoon. If I have some news I will let you know. motherboard and CPU2 (it was also CPU2 the one with problems!) replaced. Since then, the problem has e1422 cpu machine chk r710 not appeared anymore, but we experience some infrequent kernel panics under CPU-intensive load (simulations using all cores). I suspect that the panics might be something related the system bios has reported a machine check error to the original problem, but to be honest I'm not sure about it. By the way, the CPU2 machine check error appeared both with BIOS 1.3.1 and 1.4.1. My impression is that they were less frequent with BIOS 1.4.1... There are 2 major types of MCE errors, a notice or warning error, and a fatal exception. The warning will be logged by a "Machine Check Event logged" notice in your system logs, and can be later viewed via some Linux utilities. A fatal MCE will cause the machine to stop responding and the details of the MCE will be printed out to the system's console. What causes MCE errors? There most common reason for MCE events to occur are:Memory errors or Erro
