I was getting the same error for a particular user on Outlook 2003. The problem was only happening for her profile. I could log in and it would work fine. If I created another Outlook profile while logged in as this user, I would still get the same problem. Click the Start button and type this in the Open box field. Please add the quotes. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\Outlook.exe" /safe If that works check your addins: In Outlook click Tools ~ Options ~ Other ~ Advanced Options ~ Addin Manager. Uncheck all and restart Outlook. If things work normal, check each addin one by one and restart to see which one is causing the problem. If that doesn't work, try creating a new profile. You do not have to remove your existing profile. Just create a new one and select Prompt use profle. When you start Outlook choose the new profile. If it works backup your data and remove the old profile. cheers, frankco 0 LVL 97 Overall: Level 97 Outlook 63 Message Expert Comment by:war12007-02-17 Greetings, wduffus ! Outlook uses the spell checker from Microsoft Word. Installing and uninstalling OmniPage seems to make you lose that connection. Checking your addins you a good first step, as suggested by Frankco. If no joy, go into Add/Remove Programs and select MS Office. There should be an option to repair or reinstall the Spell Checker or Microsoft Word. Few days ago, the spell checker fails to start whenever I press on the F7 key with the error: "Error occurred while checking spelling" I tried to restart the Outlook. The whole PC, by microsoft outlook nothing helps. Can anybody help me fixing it. -- Thanks Sharon Report message to a moderator Re: Error occurred while checking spelling [message #255686] Mon, 24 December 2007 00:47 SharonMessages: 56Registered: June 2006 Member I'm using Outlook 2003 (11.8169.8172) SP3. I managed to fix the problem. The problem was in the CUSTOM.DIC file. It was microsoft outlook 2003 messed up. Instead of one word per line, after a few lines all words where joined to a one long line. So I deleted this long line, and all is well now. But I did find something that may cause problems. In the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\Spelling all paths point to an invalid path on the network. it points to files ...\Proof\MSSP2_EN.LEX and ...\Proof\Mssp232.dll It should point into my local disk, but I don't where too. Do you know where should it point to? -- Thanks Sharon Report message to a moderator Re: Error occurred while checking spelling [message #255721] Mon, 24 December 2007 06:04 SharonMessages: 56Registered: June 2006 Member No, it's WinXP Pro with Office 2003 Pro.
