PROBLEM. Running Win xp sp3 with Office 2003. Comodo anti-virus and firewall. Outlook opens as normal but http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_outlook-mso_other/outlook-2003-fatal-error-envelope-data-lost-but/2727a905-1822-4565-aa25-ac55639b6bd3 after a few minutes simply shuts down. When composing an email we get the following error message "A fatal error has occured in Outlook. The data in your envelope has been lost but your document is still available" (see screen shot) I have run a virus scan. Clean I have used the Outlook Detect and Repair tool. But no improvement. I looked https://forums.techguy.org/threads/outlook-fatal-error-please-advise.956122/ on the internet and see this problem reported a number of times but none of the posts offered a solution. I do not know what else to try. Please can someone advise Thanks Attached Files: Image1.jpg File size: 9 KB Views: 125 raygdw, Oct 14, 2010 #1 Sponsor kniht Joined: May 7, 2006 Messages: 1,763 Have you checked 'Applications' in Event Viewer to see if there are any errors related to Outlook? kniht, Oct 14, 2010 #2 raygdw Thread Starter Joined: Nov 11, 2001 Messages: 460 I will go round and check that and report back. The error is random. User had office 2002 installed and was upgraded to 2003 and is now getting this error. The error itself says" A fatal error has occurred in Outlook. The data in your envelope has been lost, but your document is still available." Another error popup that they are getting says "microsoft office outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." and then shutdowns outlook and restarts it. Any suggestions on what may be causing this.
