regular laptop PC running WindowsXP Professional a while back. Recently, I got a new PC running Windows XP Professional version 2002 SP2, and I tried to run my old script and nothing happens when I try to run it. On SecureCRT, I click the Script menu and then click Run, and Select my trusty old .vbs script, and nothing happens! I have been trying to figure out what script host or scripting engine that I might need to install from the MS web site, but I can't find a download for it searching for 'VBscript engine' or 'Windows Script Host'. I have Windows .Net framework 2.0 on my new PC, and I have seen some mention of Windows scripting support in .NET, but I am going around in circles on the MS web site from the Scripting home pointed to by the VanDyke scripting FAQs. Please help me troubleshoot what is going on and/or point me to the current download for XP that supports VB scripting run from the SecureCRT Script Run menu. On my old PC, I also had an application called 'Microsoft Script Editor' that would open when a script error was encountered, allowing me to set breakpoints and watch variables. Does anyone know if this or a similar debugger is still available? jjh03-28-2007, 03:49 PMHello Alfyj If you open a Windows Explorer window and click on the Tools menu and choose Folder Options, the Folder Options window will appear. From there you can select the File Types tab, which shows you a list of file types. Does the .vbs extension have the Windows Based Script Host associated with it? Do you have something like Norton or McAfee that could be preventing your scripts from running? Are you able to run your scripts from outside of SecureCRT? Thanks Jamie Alfyj03-29-2007, 06:24 AM1. '.vbs' is mapped to 'Microsoft (r) Windows Based Script Host' in Folder Options -> File Types. 2. I am running AOL Active Virus Shield. Why would Anti-virus software conflict with SecureCRT scripting? How can I find out if AVS is the culprit? 3. When I double-click my .vbs file in Windows Explorer, a Windows Script Host Error dialog box opens with: Script: C:\Documents and Settings\...\UserAdmin.vbs (the name of my script) Line: 1 Char: 1 Error: Expected Statement Code: 800A0400 Source: Microsoft VBscript compilation error The actual line 1 of my script is: # $language = "VBScript" Any ideas?
