(QMNAME) parameter. Resolving the problem Specify the queue manager name (QMNAME) on the CLNTCONN channel definition. Example: DEFINE CHANNEL(CHAN2) CHLTYPE(CLNTCONN) TRPTYPE(TCP) + CONNAME(9.20.4.26) QMNAME(QM2) Queue manager name (QMNAME) This is the name of the queue manager or queue manager group to which a WebSphere MQ client application can request connection. This mqconn ended with reason code 2538 attribute is valid for channel types of Client connection. Additional information Ensure the client channel definition does not have a blank Queue Manager Name field. WebSphere MQ does an MQCONNX supplying a specific queue manager name, so when searching the channel table, WebSphere MQ fails to locate the channel. Adding the queue manager name to the CLNTCONN definition and recopying the channel table file to the client machine resolved the problem. When this Channel Definition file is created and modified at the server machine? Is it at the time of creation of Server Connection Channel? 3) SET MQSERVER = Server Connection Channel Name/TCP/connection name As I understand, In case of using MQEnvironment for channel, HostName and Port, We don’t need to specify MQSERVER? NoviceJoined: 12 Ocissues with q/qload/rfhutilc on Windows 7 with MQSeries 7.5 client Newsgroups: gmane.network.mq.devel Date: Wednesday 28th November 2012 14:23:26 UTC (over 3 years ago) Taking everyone's advice, I created a new channel table file using an MQSeries 7.5 queue manager. Leveraging that, the sample program connection tool was able to find every defined queue manager. M:\>amqscnxc BMQD1 Sample AMQSCNXC start Connecting to queue manager BMQD1 with no client connection information specified. Connection established to queue manager BMQD1 Sample AMQSCNXC end M:\>amqscnxc PSFINS Sample AMQSCNXC start Connecting to queue manager PSFINS with no client connection information specified. Connection established to queue manager PSFINS Sample AMQSCNXC end ..etc.. When I switch to q/qload, I now get an SSL initialization error. M:\>q -m BMQD1 -i ADMIN.TEST.Q -ddf3 MQSeries Q Program by Paul Clarke [ V5.0.0 Build:Jul 15 2008 ] Connecting ...failed. MQCONN on object 'BMQD1' returned 2393 SSL initialisation error. Thinking ths might be due to MQ 7.5 leveraging gsk8, I created a new CMS key database using the GUI. I loaded all of the required signers but q/qload/rfhutilc still produce the SSL error. This is sounding more and more like an issue with the utilities. If you don't provide the hostname, port #, channel name parameters when invoking it, the MQ Client libraries being invoked by amqscnxc well then look for the MQ Client Channel table variables for guidance on where to connect. If amqscnxc works for all your tests, but another app / tool does not, it is strong evidence that the app / tool has the issue. If amqscnxc fails sporadically as well, you can eliminate your app / tool as a variable. If there is a suspected problem with core MQ functionality, its very helpful to be able to demonstrate it with the sample apps when opening the PMR. For MQ Client co
