in a number of situations, and if you do a Google search on the phrase you’ll see a lot of confusing information on this. It isn’t limited to just QuickBooks installations. In a very general sense it is due to there being a removable drive in your system that doesn’t have media in the drive. Remember the old Iomega Zip drives? These there is no disk in the drive. please insert a disk into drive device harddisk5 dr5 kinds of drives would make the error pop up often. Nowadays we don’t see Zip drives that often, but any of the following can make the error pop up (this is not an exhaustive list): Floppy disk drives: Do you still have some? I do… Removable hard disk drives: These have multiple kinds of interfaces, USB as well as others, and they all can cause the problem. USB Multi-Card Readers: I don’t think of those when I thing of removable drives, but they ARE. Many consumer level PC’s have these included, even if you don’t use them. is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive E:"? Modified on: Thu, 25 Aug, 2016 at 9:49 AM We have heard from users of Plays.tv who get the following message: "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive E:." We realize that this message shouldn't happen and it's a problem for our program, and we'll work to fix it. But until then, there are two workarounds to try for the issue: 1.) Find out what your E: drive is (it may be a card reader on your monitor or some other device) and put a portable storage medium, such as a media card or other, into it. See if the error goes away. (don't worry because the flash drive won't be formatted or accessed) 2.) Disable the USB Mass Storage Device in Device manager like this: Open up your Windows Control Panel Under Devices and Printers, Choose Device Manager Open up the Universal Serial Bus controllers group Right-click on the 'USB Mass Storage Device' item Choose 'Disable' This will disable a USB device on your computer that you may not be using. Often, it is a card reader or some other storage device. In the future, if you want to use that device again, you'll need to re-enable the device to use it. One of these should get the error message to go away. We'd like to hear how it goes for you! 30873 Did you find it helpful? Yes NoSend feedback Sorry we couldn't be helpful.
