What does this mean and how can I get rid of it? _______________________________________________________ SnippingTool.exe - No Disk _______________________________________________________ "X" There is https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/1986-there-is-no-disk-in-the-drive-error-message no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk2\DR5. _______________________________________________________ Cancel Try Again Continue _______________________________________________________ This thing is always popping up and it is very hard to get rid of no matter which no disk button I click on. It finally goes away, but I don't know what makes it go away. It is very irritating. There is a red circle with a white X in it, where I put an "X" above. Thanks. Reports: · Posted 4 years ago Top curry318 Posts: 99 This post has been reported. It also does this when I try to save something in Notepad. It seems to me like it wants me to put a disk in a drive to put something on it, not remove something. I'm not trying to put anything on a disk, just save it on the computer like always. I'm not doing anything different than I ever have before that I know of. This just started happening lately and I don't know why. I have turned the computer off and on many times since this began and it just keeps doing it anyway. What is: \Device\Harddisk2\DR5? I never heard of that before. Reports: · Posted 4 years ago Top Xhi Posts: 6298 This post has been reported. When you look in disk management does your OS have the drive letter C: If not what drive does have that letter? Reports: · Posted 4 years ago Top curry318 Posts: 99 This post has been reported. Sorry, but I don't know what you mean by "When you look in disk management." When I look under COMPUTER, I see this: Local Disk (C:) DVD RW Drive (D:) Elements (F:) - t
"There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk." that won't go away, here are a few things to try out to resolve that error. Steps (7 total) 1 Rule out any malware attack Before trying any of the other steps, first check to make sure there is not a malware attack causing this error. 2 Identify any removable drives Find out what removable drives are connected to your system. The CD/DVD drive could be considered a removable drive by Windows. 3 Change the drive letter Use the Disk Management tool to change the drive letter of the drive triggering the error. This should help in most cases. 4 Check the Windows path A removable drive that doesn't need to be search may have been added to the Windows path. Change the path so it's not searching a removable device. 5 Update drivers (esp. for card readers) If the removable drive triggering the error is a card reader, make sure you have the most up-to-date drivers installed. 6 Remove and reinstall the removable drive Delete the removable drive from the system. Delete it from Device Manager if it's there too. Reboot and reinstall the drive. 7 Reinstall the application Make sure there are no removable drives attached to the system before reinstalling. If a removable drive needs to be there (e.g. a CD/DVD device), change its drive letter through Disk Management before reinstalling the application. Change it back afterward if you need to. Conclusion If you see an error that includes something like "Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk1\DR1" then you can tell the error is related to a removable drive. The "DR" at the end stands for "Device Removable." I don't expect this list is exhaustive, but I hope it will help those in the community out. 12 Comments Habanero John6020 Apr 26, 2011 at 10:40am Thanks for the tips.
