Iis 7.5 Detailed Error - 405.0 - Method Not Allowed

Join them; it only takes a minute: Sign up IIS 7.5, Web Service uninstall webdav iis and HTTP 405 error up vote 9 down vote favorite 3 I have a web service which I host on my machine. I use Windows 7 and IIS 7.5. Problem: When the client tries to consume the web service, he/she gets a HTTP http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6147181/405-method-not-allowed-in-iis7-5-for-put-method 405 error. In the log file of IIS, I can see that this is refused because POST verb is not allowed. Question: How can I allow POST verb for those requests? Do I have to add mapping of the WSDL file? And if I do, how do I have to configure this mapping? I have checked, and in existing mappings I have nothing for WSDL extension. Is there maybe another thing to setup on IIS to allow those requests? Web service is built using WCF. c# wcf http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4287330/iis-7-5-web-service-and-http-405-error iis http-post share|improve this question edited Mar 22 '13 at 14:41 mhu 12.3k33757 asked Nov 26 '10 at 17:16 buhtla 1,24721430 Make sure you install .NET 4.0 on the computer. This is allowed (and encouraged) on SO. –Peter Apr 24 '12 at 13:36 Helped me after searching all morning for a fix - thanks –Matt Apr 30 '12 at 10:20 How did you find out about this @buhtla? It worked for me: big thanks! But I think it would also be helpful to post the URL from where you got this information and, please, mark as answer because it will be easier for others to find the solution. –Fabio Milheiro Jul 12 '12 at 11:42 I'm very glad I
applies to Microsoft IIS. Last Updated: 23 May 2002 Problem IIS returns error "405 Method Not Allowed" when not allowed posting to a CGI script Details IIS returns "405 Method Not Allowed" or asks you to check your MIME mappings when you try to use a CGI script such method not allowed as Domain Password or Comments. Solution This is an IIS Server configuration error having nothing to do with MIME types. You are attempting to execute a program in a directory that doesn't have execute permissions turned on. Double-check the settings for your scripts directory. See the IIS documentation for more information. Also, if the URL isn't to an actual file or if it's to a directory without an appended slash, you may get the 405 error. Another way to debug this is to use ethereal or some network monitor to see what is actually getting
