When I use the cdrw/dvd drive for dvds, I get a "0 not found" error message. The dvd does start to run on windows media player (and Interactual DVD player when I try it), but the error message pops up and http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/0-not-found-error-message-when-using-dvd-player-on-laptop.101825/ stops the player. The movie is still showing behind the message box and will resume when I click on the OK in the message box, but just seconds later the error message comes back and stops the movie again. As long as the OK is clicked the movie will play and sound is present. I can use the cd player without any error messages, but the dvd player always brings up the error message. Any ideas as to what is going on ???? Using your usb plug for the optical drive as an external drive seems to be a problem. The computer works with the optical drive as an external drive but the application application not found DVD player is unable to initialize it therefore it will not play anything in the drive. Mechanically the drive works. Nothing gets stuck etc. Rebooting and using a different usb port makes no difference. Error is- A valid DVD drive could not be found. Cupie's dad Level 1 (0 points) Q: disc won't eject I've had my MacBookPro for a little over 3 years (OS 10.6.8, 2.5 GhZ Intel Core 2 DUo, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM). Previously, I've had no trouble playing DVDs on my laptop, but today I couldn't play the disc, or eject it, and when I try to open DVD Player, I get the error message, "There was an initialization error. A valid DVD drive could not be found. [-70012]. I've tried restarting the laptop and pressing the trackpad button, but that didn't help. I ran Software Update and everything's up-to-date. I tried playing the DVD via VLC, but it didn't work (under "Device name," it said "No DVDs found").Can anyone suggest other things I can try in order to eject the DVD?
