After 1,5h of fight I've installed oracle instantclient (basic and sdk) and then oci for php (as described here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=92528). Now I'm a bit confused because my PHPinfo enable oci8 php linux tells that OCI8 Support is enabled, but in PDO section there's only odbc in "PDO drivers" section. Can anyone tell me when did I go wrong? P.S. I've got XUBUNTU 12.10 and following packets installed: php-pear, php5, php5-cli, php5-common, php5-dbg, php5-dev, php5-odbc (Please answer fast cause I got only week for this project :) Edit: Thanks for explaining. Now I'm trying to install "pdo_oci" following this: http://lacot.org/blog/2009/11/03/ubuntu-php5-oci8-and-pdo_oci-the-perfect-install.html and now invoking this: /usr/local/src/PDO_OCI-1.0# ./configure --with-oci8=instantclient,/opt/oracle/instantclient,12.1 I'm getting following error: configure: error: Oracle-OCI needed libraries not found under /opt/oracle/instantclient I wonder if doing this on Windows wouldn't be easier. php oracle pdo oci xubuntu share|improve this question edited Jan 20 '14 at 10:46 asked Jan 20 '14 at 9:00 Warej 1113 That link explains how to use OCI8, not PDO. Php Oracle 12c
Client for Linux and Windows For PHP 5.4 and Oracle Database 11g Release 2 By Christopher Jones Updated April 2012 See pdo oci vs oci8 the version for PHP 5.5 and Oracle Database 12c The easiest way to configure PHP to access a remote Oracle Database is to use Oracle Instant Client libraries. This note describes how to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21229821/enabling-pdo-oci install PHP with the OCI8 Extension and Oracle Instant Client on Windows and Linux. The free The Underground PHP and Oracle Manual explains other installation options and contains more detail. OCI8 is the PHP extension for connecting to Oracle Database. OCI8 is open source and included with PHP. The name is derived from Oracle's C "call interface" API first introduced in version 8 of Oracle Database. OCI8 links with http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/technote-php-instant-084410.html Oracle client libraries, such as Oracle Instant Client. Oracle Instant Client is a free set of easily installed libraries that allow programs to connect to local or remote Oracle Database instances. To use Instant Client an existing database is needed - Instant Client does not include one. Typically the database will be on another machine. If the database is local then Instant Client, although convenient and still usable, is generally not needed because OCI8 can directly use the database libraries. When using Instant Client 11g, PHP OCI8 connects to all editions of Oracle 9.2, 10.x, and 11.x databases. Software Requirements Software Notes Oracle Instant Client Download the "Basic" package. On Linux, also download the "SDK" or "devel" package. If space is at a premium, the Basic Lite package can be used instead of Basic. Apache HTTP Server Version 2.2 PHP Version 5.4 Enabling the PHP OCI8 Extension on Windows The Instant Client binaries complement PHP's pre-built binaries for Windows. Install Apache by downloading httpd-2.2.22-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi from httpd.apache.org/download.cgi Double click the MSI file to start the installation wizard. Install "for All Users, on Port 80". Do a typical install into the default destination folder: C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2. Download the FastCGI component mod_fcgid-2.3.6-win32-x86.zip from httpd.apache.org/download.cgi#mod_fcgid Unzip it

I´m trying to install zabbix 1.8.6 on RHEL5.4 (64) with Oracle database, this DB not found is located in an external server, not in the same of Zabbix server. So, To conect to that DB I'll use Oracle Instant Client. My problem appear when I execute: Code: ./configure --prefix=/software/zabbix --enable-server --with-jabber --with-libcurl --with-net-snmp --with-openipmi --with-oracle Code: checking for Oracle OCI headers in /software/oracle/instantclient_10_2/rdbms/public... not found checking if Oracle support is configure error oracle enabled... no configure: error: Oracle OCI library not found The $ORACLE_HOME/rdmbs/public doesn´t exist, when I installed the Instant client, I unzipped the product, and there wasn´t any directory like rdmbs/public. I tried to create rdmbs/public and copy all files o sdk/include and the error disappeared, but now appear a new problem: Code: checking for Oracle OCI headers in /software/oracle/instantclient_10_2/rdbms/public... yes checking if Oracle OCI version is >= 10.0... yes checking for Oracle version >= 11.x to use -lnnz11 flag... no checking for Oracle version >= 10.x to use -lnnz10 flag... yes checking for Oracle OCI libraries in /software/oracle/instantclient_10_2/lib... not found checking if Oracle support is enabled... no configure: error: Oracle OCI library not found ¿how can I install it? thanks!!
