Download PCRE from PCRE.org 2. Compile it with a prefix and install it: ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/pcre make make install 3. Go back to where your Apache installation is and compile Apache with PCRE: --with-pcre=/usr/local/pcre share|improve this answer edited Feb 9 '13 at 2:19 uınbɐɥs 5,25241639 answered May 23 '12 at 9:35 MrROY 5,296125491 18 I had to designate the pcre config location explicitly like ./configure --with-pcre=/usr/local/pcre/pcre-config in CentOS 6.3 –Troy Knapp Aug 21 '12 at 0:54 Does the httpd make process statically link with PCRE? or do I need to include them with the compiled httpd stuff if I tar it and share it? –nterry Nov 2 '13 at 1:12 2 Same here, I needed to state the full path name of the file for RHEL 5: --with-pcre=/usr/local/bin/pcre-cofnig –Eric Mar 7 '15 at 0:38 Eric the spelling mistake for config in your comment wasted my two hours x( please edit –MohitC Feb 16 at 6:06 and finally after several hours my command ./configure --with-included-apr --with-pcre=/usr/local/pcre/bin/pcre2-co

: [ubuntu] configure: error: pcre-config not found, install the pcre-devel package or https://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1544980.html build with tapas_mishraAugust 3rd, 2010, 01:00 PMI am installing lighttpd on Ubuntu 9.04. As per instructions on this (http://redmine.lighttpd.net/projects/lighttpd/wiki/InstallFromSource) page I did svn checkout svn://svn.lighttpd.net/lighttpd/branches/lighttpd-1.4.x/ cd lighttpd-1.4.x ./autogen.shand then when executed ./configureGot following error configure: error: pcre-config not found, install the pcre-devel package or build with --without-pcrethen went to not found synaptic software sources and installed every thing that I could get with name pcre after which error went. But is there some logical and shorter way to reduce that. also following error configure: error: bzip2-headers and/or libs where not found, install them or build with --without-bzip2 the above problem config for libpcre of bzip2 was solved by apt-get install libbz2-dev I checked a blog http://macombcomputersupport.com/it-support-blog/2009/07/24/guide-installing-a-linux-web-server-ubuntu-lighttpd/ has mentioned similar problems but libpcre3-dev does not exist. What is that complaining about ? I have to do it on many servers. BachstelzeAugust 3rd, 2010, 01:59 PMWhy not just install lighttpd from the repos? tapas_mishraAugust 3rd, 2010, 03:37 PMWhy not just install lighttpd from the repos? Did apt-get install lighttpd did not worked. But the question is not I have not been able to install. It did install I am asking the problem of pcre library how could that be solved. I do not want to go and check all the pcre libraries from Synaptics. Which is the exact one that is needed ? glauber.gallego@gmail.comJune 22nd, 2011, 08:34 PMWhich is the exact one that is needed ? try libpcre3-dev Powered by vBulletin Version 4.2.2 Copyright © 2016 vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
