However, my concern is that when I unzip these files, with a slightly older version of unzip, I get errors when I try to unzip the zip created with zip 3.0. $ unzip -t from-2.3.1.zip > /dev/null # NO Errors $ unzip -t from-3.0.zip > /dev/null warning [from-3.0.zip]: 76 extra bytes at beginning or within zipfile (attempting to process anyway) error [from-3.0.zip]: reported length of central directory is -76 bytes too long (Atari STZip zipfile? (please check that you have transferred or created the zipfile in the appropriate BINARY mode and that you have compiled UnZip properly) $ The reason I am concerned, is that it seems like if I move to zip 3.0, I will be forcing my downstream users to all upgrade to a newer version of unzip, since unzip 6.0, for example, unzips both these files without error. This anomaly doesn't occur in all cases, so I am unsure of it's full extent. Any suggestions? Did I somehow incorrec

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be more diagnostic output available.Request: could you download my generated test zip at https://bitbucket.org/reiniero/fpc_laz_patch_playground/downloads/z64_65537emptyfiles.zip and test it with your favourite utility, and report success/failure?Thanks a lot. Background: Current work in progress at https://bitbucket.org/reiniero/fpc_laz_patch_playground/srcdirectory zip64I think I've got compression and extraction working.I was a bit too optimistic by assuming the code could support qword-sized files, but it uses streams which can only go to int64.So I'll need to build in some exceptions for large file sizes when compressing/uncompressing zip files, and rework the various position/size variables to use int64 again instead of qword.

I had a look at the issue. First of all, this is two separate problems, one with TotalCommander, one with OSX finder. Regarding the TotalCommander issue: 1) The content is not compressed. This is totally compliant with the zip standard, and is a known issue already discussed elsewhere (as php does provide no known solution to do chunk-wize deflate compression). 2) Totalcommander 8.51a complains about crc errors. The linked forum post suggests that crc is missing from the zip file. AFAICS: That is not true. The crc is in place and correct. What indeed is "missing" is the compressed/uncompressed file size information in the header (in fact, it is set to -1, as the zip standard demands for stream comp
