Things to check: lspci - is you network adapter listed? Reboot and enter bios setup. Check if the built in network adapter is enabled. share|improve this answer answered Jun 26 '14 at 1:27 sмurf 3,4441122

I can't get my new system to connect to my network. I have gone through a few of the posts I found with similar problems and tried a few things without success. I repeated the flash drive steps a few times on different USB drives to make sure I got it right, tried to see if anything looked 'off' in the error fetching interface mother board BIOS, looked at my network set-up and tested my wired connections.I still can't get it to work. It might be a simple solution but I can't figure it out (I'm very, very new at this). I hope I can get someone to point me in the right direction.my motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H and I'm running 4.7I have also attached a syslog file. Please let me know if more info is required. syslog.txt (59.17 kB - downloaded 192 times.) « Last Edit: December 03, 2012, 05:00:32 AM by Pucker » Logged Unraid 5rc8, Intel Core i7 2700K 3.5GHz, Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H, Kingston KVR 8GB, 4xSeagate 7200.12 2TB, Crucial m4 128G 2.5" SATA3 Solid State Drive, Crossair Builder CX600 V2 PSU dgaschk Global Moderator Hero Member Posts: 8821 Re: Error on ifconfig eth0: error fetching interface information: Device not found « Reply #1 on: November 28, 2012, 07:03:08 PM » Have you tried connecting the other Ethernet port? When I tried to type: dmesg | grep eth0 I got the following message eth0: PHY ID 200xx5c99 at 1 IRQ ) (stmmac-1:01) active And when I typed: cat /etc/udev/ruled.d/70-persistentnet.rules I got the following message # PCI device 0x8086:0x0937 (stmmaceth) SUBSYSTEM=="net" , ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="00:22:97:55:ff:b8", ATTR{dev_id}=="0x0",ATTR{type}=="1",KERNEL=="eth*",NAME="eth0" I dont get any idea why eth0 does not appear, please let me know if you may have any idea. linux networking kernel share|improve this question edited Dec 1 '15 at 6:13 asked Dec 1 '15 at 5:53 user3815726 153111 closed as off-topic by Gregory Pakosz, Dan Cornilescu, Tsyvarev, greg-449, Yu Hao Dec 1 '15 at 11:49 This question appears to be off-topic.
