I attempted to un-install libdnet but failed as I did with snort so I proceeded regardless with a manual installation and experienced a few issues: wget http://libdnet.googlecode.com/files/libdnet-1.12.tgz tar xvfz libdnet-1.12.tgz cd libdnet-1.12/ ./configure make checkinstall dpkg -i libdnet_1.12-1_i386.deb ln -s /usr/local/lib/libdnet.1.0.1 /usr/lib/libdnet.1 Errors: checkinstall (Does not run, command does not exist) dpkg -i libdnet_1.12-1_i386.deb (Can not locate file libdnet_1.12-1_i386.deb) Can any one provide any insight on this issue as it would be most helpful. Thank you for the reply, worked perfectly now to deal with the other thousands of errors. Last edited by despuit; November 19th, 2011 at 12:08 AM. I have downloaded Apache 2.4.1 version of Apache HTTP server [http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi]. However when I am trying to build and install locally in my box I am getting below error: httpd/httpd-2.4.1 1059> ./configure checking for chosen layout... Please read the documentation. I am not sure what dependency it is looking for - I mean the download package does not contains it? What I need to do to build / deploy Apache HTTP server? Thanks in advance. apache apr share|improve this question edited Jun 6 '14 at 1:49 Oleg Mikheev 9,33954175 asked Feb 24 '12 at 19:30 Prakash 1,82563175 3 Off-topic; belongs on Server Fault –Jim Garrison Feb 25 '12 at 2:52 1 @JimGarrison, Then why is it not closed / moved? –Pacerier Jun 25 '15 at 12:05 add a comment| 8 Answers 8 active oldest votes up vote 99 down vote accepted When it tells you Please read documentation it means that you should go read Apache documentation ( http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/install.html ) which tells you to download the latest versions of both APR and APR-Util from Apache APR, unpack them into ./srclib/apr and ./srclib/apr-util (be sure the domain names do not have version numbers; for example, the APR distribution must be under ./srclib/apr/) then do ./configure --with-included-apr s
last updated March 28, 2009 in Debian / Ubuntu, Package Management, Troubleshooting, Ubuntu LinuxI need to compile few application and I need Perl 5 Compatible Regular Expression Library (PCRE). Under CentOS I can use a package called pcre-devel, but Debian do not have the same. How do I install pcre-devel under Debian / Ubuntu Linux? Perl-compatible regular expression library. PCRE has its own native API, but a set of "wrapper" functions that are based on the POSIX API are also supplied in the library libpcreposix. Note that this just provides a POSIX calling interface to PCRE: the regular expressions themselves still follow Perl syntax and semantics. The header file for the POSIX-style functions is called pcreposix.h. To install PCRE, type thy following command: # apt-get update
# apt-get install libpcre3 libpcre3-dev
