I ran into a configure error. The error related to the fact that libdnet was libpcre3-dev not located on the server and while it was installed I did not have the libdnet-devel package installed. Below is the sample output from the http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-software-2/libpcre-error-when-installing-snort-814244/ configure error, an expandable complete output of the configure error, and the yum command to install libdnet-devel to move past this error when installing snort. The only thing left is PCRE, I've installed it and it's located in my /usr/local/src/pcre-8.32 As I'm trying to sudo ./configure --with-included-apr I get this error: header not found checking for pcre-config... false configure: error: pcre-config for libpcre not found. First install pcre-devel sudo yum install pcre-devel -y and then run sudo ./configure --with-included-apr it will automatically take pcre by default. share|improve this answer edited Jun 29 '14 at 14:10 terdon♦ 87.1k16145252 answered Apr 22 '14 at 6:41 tejas 31114 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote I solved it by giving the path in the Apache configuration ./configure \ --with-included-apr \ --with-pcre=/usr/local/pcre/bin/pcre-config as the compiler looks for the configuration settings in the pre-config file, hence we have to give the exact location of the pre-config file. share|improve this answer edited Jun 14 '13 at 16:24 Anthon 47.5k1462125 answered Jun
