What am I doing wrong? listings miktex share|improve this question asked Aug 2 '13 at 18:27 Dušan Rychnovský 2792410 4 Probably the server is down. Try changing server. See this answer of mine. –karlkoeller Aug 2 '13 at 18:49 it's an 404 error, means that it doesn't have the things you want . Maybe , you can change to another website. –Nax Aug 3 '13 at 6:27 I have exactly the same problem. Tried multiple different mirrors but i keep getting the 404 Error when trying to install listings package. Installing other packages from the same mirrors works flawless so the problem seems to be specific to the listing package. EDIT: I finally managed to download the package. It seems to be really a problem with some mirrors but it's not limited to a single one but seems to be quite widespread. I had to go through around 5 mirrors to finally find a working one. –user34641 Aug 5 '13 at 9:34 If a Windows machine run your editor as an administrator. TeXnicCenter suffers continuously from this for some reason. –percusse Aug 5 '13

And restart the download with the installer program of MiKTeX. –Kurt Sep 14 '15 at 15:33 If you want to install a 32 bit version of MiKTeX, you certainly must not download miktex-urct-bin-x64.tar.lzma, but miktex-urct-bin.tar.lzma. –Bernard Sep 14 '15 at 18:55 Have you followed the two advices of MiKTeX: miktex.org/howto/install-miktex and miktex.org/howto/update-miktex ? –Kurt Sep 14 '15 at 20:11 I followed this website: xm1math.net/doculatex/install_miktex.html And I download MiKTeX Net Installer (32 bits) on this page: miktex.org/2.9/setup And the installer try to download x64 files, even if the file don't exist anymore on the website (and yes, I tried others mirors). –Pierre Sep 15 '15 at 8:49 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote If you want to install a version with all the packages but the .Net installer is giving you trouble, then download the basic installer. After installing MikTeX, run the Package Manager (Admin) and install all the missing packages (Edit->Select Installable Packages, then Tasks->Install). share|improve this answer answered Sep 15 '15 at 4:03 OmniSliver 111 I have to take the net installer because there are restrictions on my network and I cannot download big file like the basic installer. –Pierre Sep 15 '15 at 8:53 add a comment| Your Answer

I was trying to right left-top corner superscript, someone recommended mathtools package on this forum: Left and right subscript. So I downloaded mathtools.zip from CTAN, unzip it, error response from there's an "mathtools.dtx". In the package there are documents but none talked about how to install, I fancy the installation is just too primary to real Latex users. OK, then, there's still another thread here explained the steps: How can I manually install a package on MiKTeX (Windows) . So here I follow I ran "tex XXX.dtx" (there's no *.ins files) on all the .dtx files under the extracted folder, that includes: breqn.dtx, flexisym.dtx, mathstyle.dtx, empheq.dtx, mathtools. Then I created a folder "C:\athos\localtexmf\mathtools" and put all the new files in. Then I go to "Windows -> Start -> Programs -> MikTex 2.9 -> Maintenance (Admin) -> Settings (Admin) "; in "Roots" tab I added path "C:\athos\localtexmf"; in "General" tab I clicked "Refresh FNDB" and then clicked "OK" to close it. I restarted my WinEdt, added "\usepackage{mathtools}" under "\documentclass..."; and added "test $\prescript{14}{2}{\mathbf{C}}$ " in the main body. After that when I try to "MikTex", the error still comes up: "The required file tex\latex\mh\mathtools\sty is missing. It is a part of the following pakage: mh . The package will be installed from ..." Seems the folder "C:\athos\localtexmf\mathtools" is not captured by MikTex? Then in the error message dialog, I choose "Change", choose "Packag
