Error Symbol 'grub_term_highlight_color' Not Found
(there are other forum posts on this subject but i can't understand them/take error symbol 'grub_term_highlight_color' not found grub rescue what they said and get mine to work) but i have a problem with the Watch function of Visual C++ error the symbol 'grub_xputs' not found 2008. The problem is this, i set a watch on a variable... any variable ... and in the value collum i recieve "CXX0017:Error:symbol "xxx" not found" I have tried this with many http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10654920/cxx0017-error-symbol-not-found-in-static-library different variables and i get the same result. I even set up new test variableslike this. float Watchtest = 0.0; // breakpoint here Watchtest = 2.5; And i get the same error message. I have set up my watch following these instructions @ http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/0taedcee(VS.80).aspx I have looked at the error help for this error message @ http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/7cw9d870(VS.71).aspx And from what i https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/3c87a746-e2f6-44ee-a506-65fd412e5a69/debug-watch-error-cxx0017-symbol-not-found-beginner?forum=vsdebug can understand i am doing it right. I have also looked around other forum posts such as http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/vcgeneral/thread/1B98DF39-DABB-4094-80C7-53FC1B2E8124?prof=required the answer being "I think you are building in release, or without debug info, or optimization isturned on in debug mode." I am Building my project in debug mode, although i do not know how to find out if i am building without debug info or if optimization is turned on/off. If this is the reasons can someone please explain to a beginner how to change these debug settings, or if this is not the reason can someone please tell me the actual reason as too why this is not working please. Weirdly this error only happens when i run VC++ 2008 in Administrator mode, which i am forced to do when i open this project... an FMOD example project, which i am tweaking, this project was 2005 which i then upgraded to 2008 Thanks Aiden Sunday, April 03, 2011 8:06 PM Reply | Quote All replies 1 Sign in to vote Would you please disable compile-time optimization by right-clicking your project, select Properties -> Configuration Properites -> C/C++ -> Optimization ->

I can step into the code however the watch window doesn't show the values of any variables. It will display a message in the value field: Code: m_pParent CXX0017: Error: symbol "m_pParent" not found Interestingly symbol not found it does show values for local variables in that function but not member functions. Most of my data members are member function though that I want to debug. I am using VS2010. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. You are probably debugging an optimized build, therefore the source code you're viewing when you're debugging is different than the code that was generated (variables have been moved/removed, functions inlined, loops unrolled, etc.). There are no tips in debugging an optimized build. You're basically on your own, as the only thing you can do is debug mostly on the a

I am new to Intel C++ Composer. I have a very simple question about using namespaces. I am using VS2010 SP1 and Intel C++ Composer XE-2011 Update 5. If I set a breakpoint at "return 0;" then I cannot access the variable test::i in VS watch windowif I compile with Intel Composer. It is written that "CXX0017: Error: symbol "test::i" not found". But if I compile with Visual C++ there is no problem, the variable can be viewed and accessed. #include "stdafx.h" namespace test{ int i=10;} int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[]){ return 0;} Thanks a lot!!! I am spending hours and cannot figure it out:) RSS Top 10 posts / 0 new Last post For more complete information about compiler optimizations, see our Optimization Notice. In assembler view I see the memory reference. So it should be visible in the debug view. Because the Intel* compiler should behave the same as the Microsoft* compiler, this should work. I can reproduce that on my machine. I will make some more investigations and give you an update later. Thanks, Alex Top Log in to post comments Alexander Weggerle (Intel) Wed, 08/17/2011 - 06:31 Hi, I've found a similar bug in
