Controllers' section and update the proprietary busmaster IDE or SATA controller driver - select 'Install from specific location -> Don't Search ...' -> select acronis loader boot failed 'Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller' -> Next to install it. This is what prevents the 0x0000007b error related at boot up. During image creation you may get this error from FOG: ########################################################################################### # # # An error has been detected # # # ########################################################################################### Fatal Error: Failed located hard disk ########################################################################################### # # # Computer will reboot in 1 minute. # # # ########################################################################################### Check the BIOS settings on the target computer and make sure the SATA controller is in Compatibility mode (maybe listed as Legacy/Normal/IDE mode). Some motherboard BIOSes do not allow the selection of Legacy/Normal/IDE mode for the SATA interfaces and default to AHCI mode (Will cause the image to not fully boot and hang at a black screen). In which case you would either need to make an image from a source machine with the same controller and leave the proprietary driver in place OR do a Windows repair install from CD with the appropriate driver integrated or using the F6 driver install function. the disk I was installing to. Booted Ubuntu live CD 8.04 resized the original disk partitions, re-imaged up to fog server and then the image came down. I would like to confirm that the Optiplex 740's have no problems (hardware wise) working with FOG. I have aprox 30 working with fog right now with no issues. The problem your running into is most likely Dell's "Utility Partition". The best way to fix this is to reformat the drive and do a new Windows install. Personally I believe that no matter what vendor you get your computers from, when it comes to making an image you https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=SATA_Support should always format and start fresh, Dell does an OK job setting up windows on the optiplex systems, but its still not a clean fresh windows install. I had problems booting DELL OPTIPLEX 740 from FOG PXE: I got the message "Not enough memory to load especified image" when the client was trying to download fog/images/init.gz. I think this is the original problem that caused this machine to be included in the problematic devices https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Talk:Dell_Optiplex_740 list, because the solution is that explained in the Problematic Devices page: update de BIOS to the 1.1.8 version and use the PS kernel. It is important to note that later versions of BIOS have the same bad behavior, so you must use version 1.1.8, not latest version released by DELL (that is easier to find!). Note: I'm using FOG 0.28 and PS Kernel 2.6.33.3 User Note: Please also see Optiplex_740 for additional information on the enhanced version. I personally experienced this problem with the Optiplex 740 (not enhanced) with BIOS versions 2.2.2 and 2.2.5. Please note that these two kernels did not work with either the KS or the PS kernels. Once I downgraded my BIOS to the older 1.1.8 version as mentioned by the user in the paragraph above, I was able to boot into FOG with the KS kernel, but it could not send the inventory. When I changed to the PS kernel, I was able to boot and send my inventory. This is with FOG 0.29 and kernel versions (both KS and PS) 2.6.33.3 (latest available at my time of troubleshooting). Dell Optiplex GX520 I'm having the same issue with Fatal Error: Disk Device not found! I have successfully deployed an image to a dozen GX520's and now I keep seeing this error on mu

What is the bug ? St?phane P?neau, Nov 21, 2007 #1 pieronip Registered Member Joined: Nov 20, 2007 Posts: 5 Hi No solution I'm not found afraid, but I have the same problem. There are 2 controllers on my Gigabyte GA-X38-DS5 M/B, an Intel ICH9R and a Gigabyte. If I attach all devices to the Intel controller (my preference with 2xHDDs in RAID 0, a standalone HDD and one SATA DVD-ROM) the machine won't boot from the Recovery Media. If I attach the DVD drive and the standalone HDD to the Gigabyte controller, the machine will boot from Recovery CD but ATI 11 cannot see any HDDs. Does Acronis acronis loader fatal have a solution please? Paul pieronip, Nov 22, 2007 #2 controler Guest Have you updated your volsnap driver? Go to device driver Click on show hidden devices click to expand storage volumes You should have two at least. Click on the first one and update driver. Tried updating the driver allowing Internet search for a better driver. The wizard completed saying I already have the best driver for my hardware. Should I be manually downloading a more recent driver from somewhere? Please make sure you use the latest build (8053) of Acronis True Image 11 Home. To get access to updates you should first register your software. Don't forget to recreate Acronis Bootable Rescue Media after updating. If updating doesn't solve the problem, please make sure your motherboard's BIOS is the latest version. If the issue persists, please do the following: For Windows XP: Please boot up from the Windows Bootable CD, then go to the Recovery Console (the first Repair option you come to). From the command prompt
