I have an Exchange Server (using domain mail.example.com). I had a problem sending an email to a local address : adress@example.com : relay=none, delay=0.01, delays=0.01/0/0/0, dsn=4.3.5, status=deferred (Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=example.com type=AAAA: Host found but no data record of requested type) I solved this problem using relay_domain in my postfix main.cf : relay_domains = example.com transport_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/transport And in my /etc/postfix/transport : example.com smtp:[mail.example.com] Now I can send mails on @example.com, and I have tested some majors webmails (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail...). It works. But why I got this error on my adresses "@example.com" ? How can I be sure I never find this error on another domain ? We can recive mails from that domain but we can't send to it. Remote Server returned '< #4.4.3 X-Spam-Firewall; Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=somedomain.com =MX: Host not found, try again>' firmware version is 7.0.0.004 on the recpitient site are 5 name servers and 2 of them https://community.barracudanetworks.com/forum/index.php?/topic/27783-443-x-spam-firewall-host-or-domain-name-not-found/ are offline. I have checked MX records with mxtoolbox.com and seems they are ok I can't find any configuration in admin web gui. only thing I found is 'Enable Direct DNS Queries:' and is set to 'no' please help. Back to top #2 Barry van Hattum Barry van Hattum Members 22 posts Posted 29 March 2016 - 03:38 AM Hi John, This means the Barracuda cannot resolve the domainname. This is most likely not a Barracuda issue. Can you verify tht the DNS server being used by the Barracuda is able to resolve the domainname. You can check the resolving by going to "Advanced" -> "Troubleshooting" and using the Dig/NS lookup field. You can also try a tcpdump from there is you want. This problem is likely caused by the DNS server used by the Barracuda. IT is not able to resolve the domainname to tell teh Barracuda where to send the email to. Hope this helps. New Member [SOLVED] Sending mails to remote domains is not working. Hi All, I reinstalled my system again. Followed Falko's instruction close to https://www.howtoforge.com/community/threads/sending-mails-to-remote-domains-is-not-working.229/ every single letter. I now have a kind of working system with http://www.iredmail.org/forum/topic8119-iredmail-support-host-or-domain-name-not-found-name-service-error.html ISP Config as well. My problem now is as follows: I can send emails to the domains I've created in ISP Config example.com and example1.com Meaning I can send email from [emailprotected] to [emailprotected] But when I try to send emails to [emailprotected] or [emailprotected] I get the following not found message in my /var/log/maillog Aug 09 18:45:39 myhostname postfix/smtp[2349]: 74FBF30501: to=<[emailprotected]> relay=none, delay=10, status=deferred (Name service error for name=gmail.com type=MX: Host not found, try again) But when I send an email from gmail.com to the domain I created in Postfix using ISP Config, I can receive the email successfully. It only seems to be a problem while sending the email out of name service error my LAN network. I've an ADSL router and it is configured to allow connections on the following ports: 80,81,443,pop3,pop3s,imap,imaps I did not install Firewall that comes in FC4 and I disabled SELINUX just as told to in Falko's instructions. Is there anything else I need to do with regards to postconf configuration which would help my postfix send emails from AUthorised users like the ones created of ISP Config to send emails to others like @hotmail.com, yahoo.com, gmail.com etc etc., Thanks for your time and help. Much appreciated. - Nanda. This looks as if your system cannot resolve domains. What does /etc/resolv.conf look like? Are there any DNS servers in it? If not, you could add the following lines to it: Code: nameserver 145.253.2.75 nameserver 193.174.32.18 You can as well use any other name server you know of (instead of 145.253.2.75
