If I go to localhost, the default page is displayed, so the web server is ok. I have added a folder with a page in it in the \inetpub\wwwroot directory. The full path to the page is then C:\inetpub\wwwroot\folder\file.html. I have restarted the services but if I navigate to localhost/folder/file.html I get a 404 file not found error. Obviously I http://superuser.com/questions/741486/page-not-found-in-iis-but-its-there have forgotten something simple, but what is it? :) iis http-status-code-404 share|improve this question asked Apr 14 '14 at 10:44 user1301428 1,75042247 Check error log, you will find what exactly it is searching –Sai Apr 14 '14 at 11:56 @Sai It is searching that exact file: GET /folder/file.html - 80 –user1301428 Apr 14 '14 at 12:08 I think this is from access log, there will be error log, whenever it fails...! –Sai Apr 14 '14 at 12:10 @Sai Uhm, weird.. You can also switch on Detailed errors at Error Pages in IIS to give more info. share|improve this answer answered Apr 14 '14 at 13:26 Lisa 32127 What did you reset the username and password to? –user1301428 Apr 14 '14 at 14:49 It was a domain account which was part of Admin and IIS users. All I did was put the details in again. –Lisa Apr 16 '14

I'm trying to deploy a website from my local XP OS laptop server. This not found is a ClickOnce application. Currently I have the solution folder with containing project folder located under: C:\Inetpub and also under: C:\Inetpub\WpfApplication1 And my default website from IIS Manager is pointing to directory: C:\Inetpub\WpfApplication1\WpfApplication1 Is this correct file/folder storage locations? When I click Browse on default web server, it shows me navigational tree. Then when I click on WpfApplication1 again, it shows me Install button page. 404 - file But when I click on Install button, it doesn't show me my ClickOnce application. However, this same web app I can run from VS 2008 and it runs properly. This web app uses both music and graphics. Also, how should Home Directory and Documents tabs be populated? C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\WpfApplication1\WpfApplication1\bin\Debug I followed instructions from 1st VBS script on: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms752346.aspx to install MIME types since they weren't listed for Default website. And I could verify this by reopening properties window for website and seeing all these MIME types listed, however, I was only able to enter these properties manually. I did successfully run the VBS script, but after running it it said it had finished. But when I opened properties none of MIME types were listed. So that's when I entered types manually. Also, when I ran last VBS script from this same hyperlink, only type it said was installed was XBP type. Also when I navigate to following URL, it says Page not found: http://localhost/WpfApplication1/WpfApplication1/WpfApplication1.application And should I create a Virtual directory called WpfApplication1 under default site or instead just map default website to WpfApplication1 Project folder? (I'm assuming top document on Documents tab should be publish.h
