First install pcre-devel sudo yum install pcre-devel -y and then run sudo ./configure --with-included-apr it will automatically take pcre by default. share|improve this answer edited Jun 29 '14 at 14:10 terdon♦ 87.6k16148255 answered Apr 22 '14 at 6:41 tejas 31114 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote I solved it by giving the path in the Apache configuration ./configure \ --with-included-apr \ --with-pcre=/usr/local/pcre/bin/pcre-config as the compiler looks for the configuration

As per instructions on this page I did Code: svn checkout svn://svn.lighttpd.net/lighttpd/branches/lighttpd-1.4.x/ cd lighttpd-1.4.x ./autogen.sh and then when executed Code: ./configure Got following error Code: configure: error: pcre-config not found, install the pcre-devel package or build with --without-pcre then went to synaptic software sources and installed every thing that I could get with name pcre after which error went. But is there some logical and shorter way to reduce that. also following error Code: configure: error: bzip2-headers and/or libs where not found, install them or build with --without-bzip2 the above problem of bzip2 was solved by Code: apt-get install libbz2-dev I checked a blog http://macombcomputersupport.com/it-...untu-lighttpd/ has mentioned similar problems but libpcre3-dev does not exist. It's a system I don't have full control over (my sysadmins have given me a directory to work in). So I've downloaded, configured, and installed APR, APR-Util, and PCRE, in addition to Apache 2.4.7. I ran the following for APR: ./configure --prefix=/u01/app/apache/apr/ make lighttpd configure error make install Received the warning to remember to run libtool --finish /usr/local/apr/lib I changed that to libtool --finish /u01/app/apache/apr/lib/ and it said it installed the Libraries in that location Similarly, for APR-Util, ran: ./configure --prefix=/u01/app/apache/apr-util/ --with-apr=/u01/app/apache/apr/bin make make install Told me the Libraries were installed in /u01/app/apache/apr-util//lib Next, PCRE: ./configure --prefix=/u01/app/apache/pcre/ --with-apr=/u01/app/apache/apr/bin --with-apr-util=/u01/app/apache/apr-util/bin make make install So far, no problems. Now I try to configure apache ./configure --prefix=/u01/app/apache/apache247/ --with-apr=/u01/app/apache/apr/bin --with-apr-util=/u01/app/apache/apr-util/bin --with-pcre=/u01/app/apache/pcre/bin It finds APR and APR-Util, but of course, I get the error "Did not find pcre-config script at /u01/app/apache/pcre/bin". Why, I don't know, as the file is there at that location. What am I doing wrong? Thanks! installation apache-http-server share|improve this question asked Nov 25 '13 at 20:56 Shawn 18115 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 6 down vote accepted I solved it by specifying the full path to the pcre-config file. Software Design Technical Web Development Languages, Tools and Technologies About Contact Ridge BLOG Home › Tech Stuff › Build / Cross Compile lighttpd for ARM Linux with pcre Build / Cross Compile lighttpd for ARM Linux with pcre This is a record of how I built lighttpd with pcre for ARM. Most examples of cross compiling lighttpd for ARM do not include pcre, but to get the best out of lighttpd you really do need pcre built in. So we first need to get and cross compile pcre and then lighttpd. Build pcre for ARM In this example I assume that you create the build directories in you home directory, e.g. /home/youruser/ , you will need to change this in the following commands to match your actual directory set-up. cd /home/youruser mkdir buid_pcre cd build_pcre wget ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/programming/pcre/pcre-8.21.tar.gz tar -xzf pcre-8.21.tar.gz cd pcre-8.21 ./configure --host=arm-linux-gnueabi CC=arm-linux-gnueabi-gcc \ AR=arm-linux-gnueabi-ar STRIP=arm-linux-gnueabi-strip \ RANLIB=arm-linux-gnueabi-ranlib \ --prefix=/home/youruser/build_lighttpd/build_pcre/_install make make install 12345678910111213141516 cd /home/yourusermkdir buid_pcrecd build_pcrewget ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/programming/pcre/pcre-8.21.tar.gztar -xzf pcre-8.21.tar.gzcd pcre-8.21./configure --host=arm-linux-gnueabi CC=arm-linux-gnueabi-gcc \AR=arm-linux-gnueabi-ar STRIP=arm-linux-gnueabi-strip \RANLIB=arm-linux-gnueabi-ranlib \--prefix=/home/youruser/build_lighttpd/build_pcre/_installmakemake install This should build pcre and install the output files into the following directory: /home/youruser/build_lighttpd/build_pcre/_install Change this path to suit your own needs. Build lighttpd for ARM Now that we have build pcre we can build lighttpd as follows, there is a bit of trickery involved for getting it to build with pcre, but happily this article showed me the way (thanks)! cd /home/youruser mkdir build_lighttpd cd build_lighttpd wget http://download.lighttpd.net/lighttpd/releases-1.4.x/lighttpd-1.4.32.tar.gz tar -zxvf lighttpd-1.4.32.tar.gz cd lighttpd-1.4.32 ./configure -prefix=/home/youruser/buil
