Cause: This can occur if the username and password of the WD Network Device do not match the current Window's username and password information. During the automatic reconnection process, Windows may attempt to send the username and password information for the current Windows username and password instead of the username and password specified during setup. Solution: Attempting to open the mapped network drive should prompt a new login window. Entering the WD Network Device username and password will reconnect the share, allowing it to be accessible again (until the next reboot). For Advanced Windows Users: If Windows is unable to reconnect a WD Network Drive at login, a batch (.bat) file placed in the Startup Folder may provide an alternate way to reconnect devices o

I've got a bunch of Windows 7 machines networked with a workgroup at home. I used to be able to simply open the "Run" box and type in "\\computername\sharename" to browse the contents of other machines, but recently this has map network drive stopped working. In fact, it doesn't even work when attempting to browse to shares on this very computer. Observe: (Reliant is, of course, the machine used to take these screenshots) The effect is the same with both UNC names and IP addresses. The error message (in this case 0x80070002) actually seems to vary from one attempt to the next, sometimes reading "Network path not found". Ive done a bit of googling on each of the various error messages that come up, but I have found nothing. The odd thing about this situation is that I can still access all shares by mapping them as network drives, as illustrated here: At the moment I can work around the problem by simply mapping each drive as needed, but it's a tedious and annoying process. Any suggestions/questions are welcome. windows windows-explorer unc share|improve this question edited Oct 1 '13 at 18:46 Hennes 51.1k776121 asked Aug 15 '11 at 20:57 Fopedush 1,39631324 Weird, the same thing is happening on my machine. This has been driving me nuts. –Chris Aug 16 '11 at 18:05 Is this on every machine or just one? –William Hilsum Aug 22 '11 at 17:58 It was on most machines, but not all of them. Chris's solution seems to have fixed it. &nda

I can ping the machine. I can remote desktop connect to the machine. The machine is on the same subnet My friend with the exact same laptop as me (and on the same network, same workgroup) can connect to the shared folder. The machine I am trying to connect to and my friends machine can both see shared folders on my machine. I also cannot see shared folders on the friends laptop. When I select diagnose, windows tells me nothing useful. When I select see details on the error pop up, I see: Error code: 0x80004005 (google doesn't help much) I can nbtstat -a the machine who has the shared folder. When I try with my firewall turned off the same happens. I have ensured my windows 7 has all updates. I run security essentials to ensure my laptop is clean. I run ccleaner to clean up my registry. Same error. I have tried with my laptop on both wireless and ethernet. As you can imagine, I am banging my head against the wall on this one. windows-7 networking share|improve this question edited Jan 31 '12 at 10:30 N.N. 1,01811527 asked Jan 30 '12 at 17:51 dublintech 4282718 add a comment| 15 Answers 15 active oldest votes up vote 7 down vote accepted Right finally this to work.
