Drive after a restart, the error Unable to reconnect mapped network drives may appear in the system tray (above your system clock). Cause: This can occur if the username and password of the WD Network Device do not match the current Window's username and password information. During the automatic reconnection process, Windows may attempt to send the username and password information for the current Windows username and password instead of the username and password specified during setup. Solution: Attempting to open the mapped network drive should prompt a new login window. Entering the WD Network Device username and password will reconnect the share, allowing it to be accessible again (until the next reboot). For Advanced Windows Users: If Windows is unable to reconnect a WD Network Drive at login, a batch (.bat) file placed in the Startup Folder may provide an alternate way to reconnect devices on a restart. This method is not recommended for users with security concerns because the .bat file will have a plain text version of the password for the network drive: Open a new file in Notepad (or any other plain-text editor). Enter the following information into the file (include the quotation marks): @echo off net use drive_letter: "\\device_name

I have checked all the services required and they are started, netbios over tcp/ip is enabled, network discovery is turned on, windows firewall is turned off and also tried disabling the antivirus on the laptop but none worked. Also tried the system restore, which did not allow me to log back into the domain giving error " Trust relationship between this workstation and primary domain failed". I can ping the machine. I can remote desktop connect to the machine. The machine is on the same subnet My friend with the exact same laptop as me (and on the same network, same workgroup) can connect to the shared folder. The machine I am trying to connect to and my friends machine can both see shared folders on my machine. I also cannot see shared folders on the friends laptop. When I select diagnose, windows tells me nothing useful. When I select see details on the error pop up, I see: Error code: 0x80004005 (google doesn't help much) I can nbtstat -a the machine who has the shared folder. When I try with my firewall turned off the same happens. I have ensured my windows 7 has all updates. I run security essentials to ensure my laptop is clean. I run ccleaner to clean up my registry. Same error. I have tried with my laptop on both wireless and ethernet. As you can imagine, I am banging my head against the wall on this one. windows-7 networking share|improve this question edited Jan 31 '12 at 10:30 N.N. 1,01811527 asked Jan 30 '12 at 17:51 dublintech 4282718 add a comment| 15 Answers 15 active oldest votes up vote 7 down vote accepted Right finally this to work.
