After upgrading my OSX to El Capitan, http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/295832/epstopdf-package-converts-a-file-and-pdftex-package-doesnt-find-it I couldn't do anything in texmaker at first because the .tex file would not be found. I fixed the problem strictly following this guide. Now everything works, except for when I want to include a .eps file in the \includegraphics environment. Then I get the error message: ! Package pdftex.def Error: File 'figure_overview-eps-converted-to.pdf' not found. Here's the relevant part of my code: \begin{figure} \centering \makebox[\textwidth][c]{\includegraphics[width=1.25\textwidth]{figure_overview}} \caption{Single-parameter sweep overview} \label{1parsweep} \end{figure} The log file says this: Package epstopdf Info: Source file:

Everything else LaTex related works like a charm. pdflatex keeps complaining about a missing xy-eps-converted-to.pdf file. However a xy.pdf exists and is exactly eps-converted-to.pdf' not found that file that pdflatex should use instead of the xy-eps-converted-to.pdf, so it's just the filename that appears to be wrong. Either epstopdf is giving the file the wrong name or pdflatex is expecting the wrong one. Whichever way might be right or wrong, how do I kind of synchronize them to use the same filename? graphics pdftex miktex epstopdf share|improve this question edited Feb 2 '13 at 21:53 Martin Schröder 11.1k43195 asked Dec 27 '12 at 21:54 Hendrik Wiese 360310 I'll give that a try, however I've chosen to use pdflatex with pngs that I create from the eps files manually. Much more convenient in my book. –Hendrik Wiese Dec 28 '12 at 11:18 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote Are you including it as \includegraphics[..]{xy.eps}? If so, don't. Use \includegraphics[..]{xy} - the driver will take care of file extensions. Under pdflatex, an EPS is converted to a PDF, but if a PNG exists, then it will be used (a legacy preference order). There are default file extensions accepted by pdflatex, searched in a specific order (see Graphics file extensions and their order of inclusion when not specified), so there's no need to inclu
in a LaTeX document. I was running dot on the graph file
$ dot -Tps2 nfa.dot > nfa.eps
to receive the EPS file which I wanted to include in LaTeX. Running TeXShop with pdflatex for typesetting on a file containing
\begin{figure}[!htb]
\centering
\includegraphics[scale=.7]{nfa.eps}
\caption{Digraph.}
\label{fig:digraph}
\end{figure}
however returns the error
! LaTeX Error: Unknown graphics extension: .eps.
This can be resolved by adding
\usepackage{epstopdf}
which allows to convert eps images to pdf for use with pdflatex. This works perfect. 😎 Share this:Click to email this to a friend (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Google+ (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Like this:Like Loading... Reply Mark says: May 13, 2008 at 10:24 am Thanks…! Just wondering: what is going wrong here that including an .eps does not work? (I had to generate the .pdf-files for my images using a pdf-printer, since ps2pdf chocked on the .ps-file that PSP created.)
