Texlive-fonts-recommended Windows
my OS is Ubuntu 12.04, and it seems to have the same problem in Fedora 16. How dit you load the fonts? ptm is Adobe Times which is not shipped in any of the TeX installations. What is shipped is utm which is URW++ variant of Times. I have following line in my code: \usepackage[T1]{fontenc} I get following error: (/usr/local/texlive/2012/texmf-dist/tex/latex/base/fontenc.sty (/usr/local/texlive/2012/texmf-dist/tex/latex/base/t1enc.def) /usr/local/texlive/2012/texmf-dist/tex/latex/base/fontenc.sty:100: Font T1/cmr/ m/n/10=ecrm1000 at 10.0pt not loadable: Metric (TFM) file not found.

The error that was most troublesome was ‘kpathsea: Running mktexmf ptmr7t! I not found can't find file `ptmr7t'.' This was fixed with the recommended fonts package. I also got an error about an equation style that it didn't know. This was fixed with the texlive-science package. If you also get an error about `uct12.clo` you need to add the "texlive-publishers" package.
