I look at the JScript file and it has this code: function isLessThanStartDate(obj) { var startdate = new Date(document.getElementById('txtSD').value); var enddate = new Date(obj.value); var weekending = new Date(document.getElementById('txtWE').value); if (!(isDate(startdate))) { obj.style.backgroundColor="red"; alert (obj.value + " is not

I don't see anything wrong with it... javascript share|improve this question edited May 17 '11 at 16:01 Dan Davies Brackett 6,95512045 asked May 17 '11 at 15:48 oJM86o 83462658 4 I don't believe the error report uses the phrase "some JS error". What does it actually say? –Quentin May 17 '11 at 15:49 3 If it's IE, it's not much better than that... –Rudie May 17 '11 at 15:51 @David Dorward - @Rudie is right it doesnt display much else..I tried using firebug but it doesnt give me any info (as I dont know how to use it). It says this: User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.

Any other idea? EDIT I was trying to include a div using a PHP decision structure, where if a condition was true, it should print a div. But, actually it wasn't printing, I mean, it wasn't printing the opening tag 'div', only the closing tag 'div'. The browsers could interpret this error, but IE8, and this IE inability was causing the issue. javascript jquery html internet-explorer internet-explorer-8 share|improve this question edited Aug 17 '15 at 16:36 asked Aug 2 '13 at 15:16 Victor F 3681420 3 do you have jQuery included on the page before attempting to call $? –jbabey Aug 2 '13 at 15:18 1 What version jQuery are you using? –putvande Aug 2 '13 at 15:20 4 please note that jQuery v2.x does not support IE8. If you have jQuery v2, you will need to use v1.x instead. –Spudley Aug 2 '13 at 15:22 Could you show the code that is inside this function? –Adaz Aug 2 '13 at 15:23 add a comment| 5 Answers 5 active oldest votes up
an ad shows up properly in Firefox, Safari, Opera but it shows an error "Object Expected" in Internet Explorer, you need to verify the ad code. This error usually happens in https://www.adspeed.com/Knowledges/904/Problems-Ad-Serving/Object-Expected-error-Internet-Explorer.html the following scenario. An HTML file contains an inline JavaScript to load remote.js and call a function in remote.js And in the file remote.js: function remoteFunction() { alert('In remote function'); } You would expect the output object expected in this order: Before loading remote.js After loading remote.js In remote function IE gives an error message "Object Expected" because it calls the function remoteFunction() prematurely. It calls before loading the file remote.js, which contain the declaration of remoteFunction(). This is another unexpected behavior from IE. Fortunately, it can be corrected by adding the attribute defer="defer" to second script invocation. This will object expected error specifically prevent IE from executing in order to give a correct output. Other browsers are not affected by the change.Print -- Was this information helpful?
