I have checked and seen that file lying in a sub folder of the set up.

Its really frustrating that i am not able to fix this.each and every time i start reinstalling it,it gives some strange errors and at the last i am left with the same situation-installation failed. Lastly when i tried installing it,the error 1706 came telling me that pl insert the cd-rom or check network connection bla..bla..bla..though i was installing from my local drive where i have kept all the setup files for it!! each and every file that it asks to be located are at the specified location only but still it tells it an invalid location!! pl pl pl help me... i have never ever faced such a problem while installing office. pl help thanks in advance. shatrughna, Feb 4, 2010 #2 speed_hog Joined: Jul 28, 2008 Messages: 1,092 Shatrughna, this is what I always do, even if you are not suppose to have to do this... First go to add remove programs and make sure it is uninstalled and not there and restart PC. Then I stick the office disc in and let at start to load and cancel the install
