error, then you will know how annoying it is. However there is saving pdf as excel a simple fix that will allow you to save as PDF again in Word without issue. Head over to the save word docs as pdf Microsoft article kb 2639417 and click on the Disable Quick fix (Microsoft Fix it 50793) , or use the links provided below: Enable Disable (will allow you to save or convert to PDF again http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_word-mso_other/word-2010-save-as-pdf-gives-the-error-the-export/38ee6151-6680-e011-9b4b-68b599b31bf5 in Word) There is no need to reboot after applying this fix, and you should now be able to happily save to PDF again. Note that this issue also remains to Office Service Pack 3 (plus current updates) For those of you who don't wish to use this fix, the another simpler method is to use CutePDF (virtual printer). Simply open the Word doc that http://www.techfleece.com/2012/09/24/how-to-fix-the-export-failed-due-to-an-unexpected-error-when-saving-to-pdf-in-word-2007/ you want to convert to a PDF and print it just remember to point Word to CutePDF instead of your default printer. I have used CutePDF for years now and it is fantastic. You can download and use CutePDF for free. Brief background as to why Microsoft disabled support for embedded TTF's (t2embed.dll) which caused this issue to occur: The reason that the issue occurs is due to the W32.Duqu exploit that was found by researchers back on October 14th 2011 which was related to Stuxnet ( discovered July 13, 2010). Microsoft released a security advisory (2639658) and fix for the Duqu exploit which exploited a vulnerability in TrueType font parsing, which could allow an Elevation of Privilege's and remote code execution to hackers. Microsoft fixed this exploit by disabling support for embedded TTF's (t2embed.dll). However, this fix also created issues for some users whereby applications that rely on embedded TTF's were also affected like, certain browser functionality, as well as Microsoft Office functionality (like the ability to save as PDF) Filed Under: How To, Microsoft Office, Tutorial Thankful Technician THANK YOU!!!!! Playing around with the conversion options hasn't helped, although I was able to narrow-down the issue by printing a range of pages and finding "suspicious" content: in this case, it seems to be a complicated diagram built using Word Drawing Art [or whatever it's called?] which the PDF parser mustn't be able handle. We're also going to look office 2007 export at Office 2013 SP1, but I'm not sure it'll help. pdf microsoft-word-2013 drawing share|improve this question asked Mar 31 '14 at 5:35 PeterX 1,21531322 add a comment| 6 Answers 6 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote It was because you are using custom fonts, try CTRL+A and change all fonts to something like "Arial". If you had header and footer, make sure to change that font as well. Somehow the PDF converter not able to convert if the fonts was not default from Microsoft. share|improve this answer edited Apr 12 '14 at 14:09 Sami Laine 917411 answered Apr 12 '14 at 13:39 Aaron Ooi 212 This answer is very helpful, thanks very much. –cherhan Jun 30 '14 at 5:28 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote In my case it was due to an image in the document had become corrupt. We don't know how this image became corrupt (it was a large document that had been last edited a few years back), but any attempts to "save as PDF" gave the error. Removing the corrupt image allowed the file to be saved in PDF form successfully. share|improve this answer answered Nov 5 '15 at 12:06 Phil 1074 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote In my case it was due to enabling the "Track Changes" feature. If you have enabled tracking changes in MS Word, just disable it and try to save as pdf again. It works :] (Word
