from Fotolia.com Microsoft's Outlook email client is one of the most widely used in the world. Its included calendar and meeting "outlook 2016" infopath functions make it useful for those with busy schedules. It also allows the creation of custom elements, tailored to each user. Error message Outlook can include a number of custom forms, from meeting request https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3FdtY7PBEU slips to email templates. You may not even be aware you have created them. For many people, the first time they are aware they are using a non-standard form is when they encounter the error message: "The form you selected could not be displayed. An error occurred registering the form in the OLE registry." Root Cause What this error means is that the permissions required to alter Outlook's default http://www.ehow.com/info_7811142_error-registering-form-ole-registry.html forms (by using a custom one) do not seem to be present on your account. While you may normally have these privileges, they have not been detected during this particular session. The registry is the component of Windows that controls settings and configuration data. It restricts access to sensitive or critical areas of Windows to prevent them from being corrupted or altered. To use custom forms in Outlook, you need permission to access the registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\CLSID. For a number of possible reasons, your permission to access this key has not been found, so the registry prevents you from using your form. Resolution Log onto your machine as an administrator, or ask your network administrator to log on for you. Open Windows Explorer and click the "Tools" menu, then "Folder Options." Check the box next to "Show hidden Files and Folders." Navigate to the drive where Windows is installed (usually the C:). Click through to the following location, substituting your user name, for "USER-NAME" in the path: C:\Documents and Settings\USER-NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft. Renaming The Cache Files Within the "Microsoft" folder, there are two folders you need to access: "Forms" and "Windows." Enter the "Forms" folder first and rename the file "Frmcache.dat" to "Frmcache.old." This w
23, 2005. Guest Guest I have a few users that cannot display Outlook forms. They get the following Outlook http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/an-error-occurred-registering-the-form-in-the-ole-registry.1804505/ error: "An error occurred registering the form in the OLE registry." Once they try to access the forms and get this error, Outlook will always hang on the application shutdown. The Custom Form is published in Public Folder; These machines are all running on Windows Xp Professional SP1 with MS Office XP. When these users ole registration are set as Power User, they cannot display any form. When they are set as Administrator, they can display forms. I have deleted the frmcache.dat file, but i can't delete the Usrclass.dat. The error is "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process" and the problem it persists http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;320835 any ole registration error idea??? Thank's Guest, Feb 23, 2005 #1 Advertisements Guest Guest I'm not sure which app could have a lock on usrclass.dat, so shut down everything and try deleting it again. Also try deleting after a fresh boot, or in Safe Mode. -- Eric Legault - B.A, MCP, MCSD, Outlook MVP -------------------------------------------------- {Private e-mails ignored} Job: http://www.imaginets.com Blog: http://blogs.officezealot.com/legault/ "Phenix" wrote: > I have a few users that cannot display Outlook forms.
