4 Kudos: 0 Accepted Solutions: 0 ErrorCode: 10505 but customer funds held, serious problem 03-13-2013 07:59 PM I have a particular problem I wonder if any of you have experienced using Paypal Payments Pro (I'm on the Shopify platform as well). Sometimes a customer will get their billing address wrong which leads to a rejection by Paypal but only after the bank has seemingly approved the transaction. The customer then gets a failed paypal login message and tries the transaction a few more times and each time the bank puts a hold on their funds. So then of course said customer realizes this and thinks I have received duplicate orders when in fact I can only see their failed checkouts via shopify or paypal and the error description which is...This transaction cannot be processed.ErrorCode: 10505now the problem is that the bank will hold these funds for days and I have to explain to the customer that i'm not causing the problem but yet they are helpless. Is there something wrong with my integration? Paypal tells me all is normal and it's the banks fault, the banks tell me paypal is holding the funds. It's driving me crazy and it's a real problem, ideas anyone? 0 Kudos More options Mark as New Bookmark Subscribe Subscribe to RSS Feed Highlight Print Email to a Friend Report Inappropriate Content snowshoe Volunteer Advisor Posts: 19409 Kudos: 1294 Accepted Solutions: 616 Re: ErrorCode: 10505 but customer funds held, serious problem 03-13-2013 08:33 PM Two places to check:The Developer Forum -http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/paypalMerchant Support:https://ppmts.custhelp.com/app/homeNote - you must first setup an account, then you can ask and track your question. 0 Kudos More options Mark as New Bookmark Subscribe Subscribe to RSS Feed Highlight Print Email to a Friend Report In

The error message suggests there's something paypal error wrong with their cards, but both could pay just fine when I sent them a PayPal invoice directly. When I try a test transaction, it's fine, and a live transaction using my own personal card also worked fine in the past. I'm using PayPal Pro as the merchant account. Any suggestions? Mark Comments luke FoxyCart Team August 2008 Hey Mark. Looking through your store error paypal error 10505 log, I see a 10505 error. Check your AVS (address verification) settings. You probably have it set to decline transactions where the address doesn't perfectly match the card. From their documentation, error code 10505 is as follows: AVS Failed The AVS returned a code which resulted in PayPal declining the transaction. Attempt another card or check address. As for the other error, it appears they entered an incorrect CVV2 number. That's the number on the back of the card. Again, these are settings you can modify through your gateway. If the gateway tells FoxyCart the transaction failed, then we have to fail as well because the money wasn't captured. Does that help? mwinstein Member August 2008 1) Do you know how to set this at PayPal? I've poured over my PayPal account and can't find the settings. 2) I'm still concerned because of three attempted client transactions at EcoSector, all of them have had similar problems. Statistically, this seems unusual to me, while my Butterfly Wallet site has made several successful real transactions with no errors, using the same PayPal account. One thing that is different between these two stores is
